Today, we are so elated to be sharing with you this stunning wedding inspiration from Muncie, Indiana captured by the ever-talented Meredith Rogers Photography. These “I, do’s” are everything a classic and timeless wedding day should be. This handpicked venue really elevates the charm of Hannah and Terrence’s big day and the refined detailing throughout the wedding décor makes for the classic feel the couple was hoping for. Delicate and sweet shades of ivory and gold can be found in the wedding florals, the cake and even the reception. From the historic neighborhood setting, to intimate details that stay true to the couple, this wedding is everything we’ve been dreaming of.
So the story goes…
Terence and I met in San Francisco shortly after I’d relocated there from New York City. Like any good Silicon Valley love story, ours begins online. Fast forward almost exactly two years from our initial Match.com exchange, and Terence is down on one knee, in the same cocktail bar where we had our first date, asking me to be his wife. Spoiler alert: I said yes.
When we started wedding planning, I had a clear vision: a timelessly elegant event held in my home state of Indiana. Since I was a little girl, my parents had always talked about an at-home, “Father of the Bride” style wedding reception, but I wasn’t sold. Knowing we’d have many guests flying in from Boston, the groom’s hometown, and from cities across the country, we weighed several venue options in Indianapolis. But, after careful consideration, we decided (well, my parents convinced me) that we could have a beautiful, intimate, one-of-a-kind event right in their backyard, preceded by a ceremony at the church I attended growing up.
After the location was decided, the details began falling into place. My parents live in a tudor revival style home in a historic neighborhood, so we used that park-like setting to inspire the look and feel of the reception since their house would serve as the backdrop for the evening. From the lanterns in the centerpieces and throughout the space, to the simple ivory and gold color palette, the decor and flowers were designed to be classic and timeless, and the Graceful Glamour wedding suite fit so beautifully with our theme.
In addition to putting on my gown in my childhood bedroom and taking our wedding photos in front of and around my parents’ home, we were able to infuse details that made the day truly unique to us. For starters, the bridal party was chauffeured in a trolley, which is clearly the only acceptable form of transportation for a San Francisco-based couple. Our favors were hand-poured candles in mini mason jars, a DIY project inspired by the Ball jars that were created and manufactured in Muncie for decades. I remembered my grandmother, who passed away just over 10 years ago, by wearing her diamond which I had reset into a pendant necklace for my wedding day. As the only granddaughter on that side of the family, it was a really special way to honor her, in addition to the memory tale we created to also honor Terence’s grandparents.
Our whole day was such a sweet and intimate show of love, not only to one another, but to our families and friends. Sharing our wedding day with the most important people in our lives, at the home where I grew up, was so incredibly special. There’s no place like home to make wedding dreams come true.
