The Wedding Paper Divas office is all a buzz this morning with chatter about the Royal Wedding, including everyone’s thoughts on Kate Middleton’s gown! We wanted to bring you a recap of some of the stylish highlights from the Royal Wedding and our review.
Our staffers all loved the stunning dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Some comments were that it should have had more of a wow-factor, while other’s thought it was just lovely. We think it was a perfect choice to honor Alexander McQueen at the Royal Wedding and the dress was subtly regal, beautifully understated and feminine. Everything from the long lace sleeves to the transparent ivory silk tulle veil was simple and elegant. It was appropriate for Kate, who looked comfortable and at ease, and most importantly, it didn’t outshine her natural beauty. Kate also wore hand-made ivory duchess satin shoes designed by the team at McQueen.
Kate is rumored to have done her own make-up and we think it was absolutley flawless! It looked so natural and elegant and true to herself. Her nails were painted in a combination of Essie Allure and Bourjois Rose Lounge, sheer pale pinks.
On to the exquisite jewels! Kate’s platinum and diamond halo tiara was Cartier, lent to her by the Queen. Her Robinson Pelham diamond earrings were a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pave-set diamond acorn in the center, a personal gift from her parents for her wedding day.
Kate’s bouquet was created by floral designer Shane Connolly. Each flower used, including myrtle, lily-of-the-valley and hyacinth, had a special signficnace to royal tradition, the Royal Family and the Middleton family. Kate even chose to include “sweet William” blooms, to honor her new husband.
