We’re smitten with the bride’s shoe selection from this utterly unique wedding that took place in Sayulita, Mexico. Aren’t they stunning?

Inspiration Board: DIY Delights

As the writer of the weekly “DIY Divas” posts on Diva Dialogue, I know just how challenging it can be to come up with new project ideas, especially ones that show uniqueness, talent and creativity.  I’m often checking out other blogs and websites to get fresh ideas.  And so I thought:  Why not put together an inspiration board of those projects that really do inspire me? Tying in with the theme of recessionista brides that we’ve been seeing a lot lately, this post should help those of you trying to cut back by trying some do-it-yourself projects.  Happy crafting!

From Top to Bottom, Left to Right:   DIY Flower Hair Pieces from Diva Dialogue; Flip Flop Favors from There Went The Bride; Tissue Paper Pom Poms from DIY Wedding; Hanging Chair Placecards (using a Wedding Paper Divas design!) from Style Me Pretty; Wine Label Table Numbers from Martha Stewart Weddings; Coffee Bean Centerpieces from Showers Blog; Ringbearer Book Sling from Style Me Pretty.

DIY Divas: Boutonnieres

I know it’s the wrong time of year for this, but I couldn’t resist posting it for those brides that are already starting to plan their summertime beach weddings!  This idea can also be incorporated in to other seasons using a different base element, which I will explain shortly.

Boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen are one of the smallest details in a wedding, and also one of the easiest to DIY.  Because you only need enough to cover the bridal party and any male family members, it shouldn’t be too time consuming.  My favorite DIY idea so far are these starfish boutonnieres, courtesy of Style Me Pretty.

They best part is, they’re simple, cheap and unique.  You can purchase starfish in bulk from places like Century Novelty.  You can also buy bar pins and a hot glue gun from any craft store.  The process is pretty self-explanatory–glue the bar pins to the backs of the starfish, and there you have it! Here’s a shot of the final product, as found on Bloom’s Design Studio.

As an alternative, you can use different items to compliment the season and style of your wedding.  Think flowers and ribbon, feathers, even small, shiney Christmas decor for holiday weddings!
