Some of my friends have expressed to me that they find the pressure of creating the perfect save the date cards can be too much early on in the wedding planning. When this comes up, I always suggest that they use their engagement photo shoot as an opportunity to work with their photographer to come up with some unique shots that can be the centerpiece of the save the date. After all, this makes the session a lot more fun and it gives you the opportunity to test out your photographer’s creativity before the big day.

With so many couples getting engaged from Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day, we noticed that a lot of couples are starting to shop for Save the Date cards. If you don’t know where to start when it comes to Save the Dates, we thought we’d share some of our favorite designs in our new feature: Wedding Stationery Wednesday.

Table Number Ideas

When planning your wedding there are so many ways to add that extra personal touch that will show how much thought you put into the little details. A great example of this is the table numbers at your reception. Rather than naming your tables by number, you can incorporate your personality into this process in a fun and surprising way.

Below are a few creative table number ideas for your wedding:

Destinations: Name each table after destinations that matter to you and your husband. You can include anything from the street that you grew up on to the college you attended or even your vacation destinations.
Words: Name each table after words that inspire your relationship, such as romance, harmony, faith and adoration.
Poets: Are you a poet? Name each table after your favorite Poet and add a unique verse from your favorite poem.
J’Adore: Name each table at your reception “Love” in different languages from around the world.
Photos: WeddingByColor suggested creating photo table cards featuring images of yourself, or even your beloved pet, holding the table number. I love this idea and created a sample on a Wedding Paper Divas Save the Date Card:

Unique Ways To Do Your Save The Date Announcements

Get creative with your Save the Date cards! If you’ve decided to send a photo save the date announcement, have fun with it. Whether you hire a professional photographer or decide to have a friend take your photo, here are some unique ways to send your save the dates.

1. Great for Save the Dates or Thank You cards, this photo just requires two plain t-shirts and stick-on vinyl lettering which you can get everywhere from Office Depot to various online stores. (MarthaStewart.com)

2. Another idea is to have your photo taken during certain holidays. Dress up in costumes as a bride and a groom, or dress up your pets (costumes from Buycostumes.com) for a funny and certainly unique Save the Date Card.
