Natural textures and earthy hues add to the whimsy of a woodland wedding. Play up the rustic feel of your outdoor venue, but incorporate elegant touches through feminine fabrics.
Abbie and Matt will be married on July 12, 2014 and today she is sharing her inspiration behind her wedding invitation choice.
Invitations convey the tone of your wedding and give your guests a glimmer of your style as well. When picking out invitations, we wanted to make sure that we found one that complemented both of our personalities and showcased our wedding’s aura.
Below are our top four picks for our winery wedding:
Third Runner Up: Rustic Wreaths invitations and response cards
I love how these invitations fold out like a book. Their rustic appeal also complemented our wedding’s venue (a winery) perfectly. If we had purchased these invitations, I most likely would have added in our wedding color by customizing the black writing for Tiffany blue.
Second Runner Up: Simply Exquisite invitations and response cards
I was drawn to these invitations by the overall fancier feel that they seem to take on. These invitations have a beautiful damask pattern that I am constantly coveting. I also love that they can be customized to our wedding color (Tiffany blue) if desired. Finally, the ability to use pocket folds with them makes them extra desirable in that they automatically showcase a fancier vibe.
First Runner Up: Effervescent Sparkle invitations and response cards
This invitation & response card set completely stole my heart. Honestly, if the wedding was only about me, this probably would have been the one ordered. They are fancy and fun at the same time. I am in love with the fact that they can be used with pocket folds (I believe that they make any invitation a lot more glamorous). However, they did not fully fit the future husband’s personality or our wedding colors in a way that I loved so I had to pass. That said, I am hoping to use some of the Effervescent Sparkle pieces somewhere else in our wedding as I find them so very beautiful. They remind me so much of the chandelier that will be hung above us as we get married and would add a fantastic touch somewhere later on in our wedding paper journey.
Our Winner: Fairytale Seal invitations and response cards
These invitations and response cards screamed out to me as a perfect fit. They have the perfect combination of classic appeal with modern characteristics. The invitations are unique in that they fold like a book (something not typical of most that we receive). They are also a completely fabulous representation of our wedding’s overall theme: rustic chic. I love that we are also able to utilize more of our engagement pictures with this invitation and response card set. In addition, I’m a complete sucker for anything that is monogram-esque (the front cover of these lovely pieces are perfect!). Furthermore, once made with our wedding colors, it came to showcase both our personalities and our wedding style perfectly. We are ecstatic with the finished product and I cannot wait to put them all together for our guests!

This week’s Real Wedding is the beautiful celebration of Adrienne and Luke, held at Holland Ranch, San Luis Obispo, CA. The venue features a barn with a bridal suite above, a pond, horses, and spacious lawns all with a majestic mountain in the foreground. The groom’s father wrote a song for the couple and performed it with the bride’s father at the wedding. The groom’s father sang and played the guitar while the bride’s father played the fiddle.

For a winter themed wedding, we suggest finding a wedding favor that matches the season. We always enjoy when brides send their guests home at the end of the night with a sweet treat, and this DIY project helps with just that task! Whether you choose a tried-and-true family recipe, or find a recipe online, this favor will be a personal touch that your guests will love.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A Mason jar
- Custom gift tag stickers
- Recipe cards
- Craft Paper cut-outs
- Cocoa ingredients
- Find a favorite hot cocoa recipe that can be made ahead of time (without the liquid, of course!), and print it on a recipe card. You can even coordinate your recipe card with your wedding invitations by using enclosure cards.
- Layer the ingredients in a clean Mason jar – this is a fun place to play with colors, by separating the sugar and cocoa powder.
- Secure the lid of the jar, and attach the colored craft paper circle to the top for an added pop of color. Attach the gift tag stickers to the front of the jar.
- Punch a hole in the recipe card, then loop a ribbon through the hole. Tie the ribbon around the neck of the jar to complete the gift.
Your guests will love this personalized treat, especially during the cold winter season.
This week’s stationery roundup is inspired by our rustic wedding inspiration board. Choose invites with earthy hues and rustic floral accents to create an elegant stationery suite. When planning your wedding, consider using other pretty paper elements such as matching thank you cards or personalized table cards to help carry the theme through.
