Rant or Rave: No Proposal?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

One of our coworkers recently got married, so when we were playing our occasional game of “Gather the Most Interesting Engagement Story in the Office” we naturally honed in on him. To our surprise, however, he didn’t propose with a ring on bended knee. In fact, his bride asked him not to!

She says she didn’t want all the gushy fanfare, so they simply talked about whether or not they should get married and agreed upon a decision like mature, responsible adults.

Rant or Rave: Inviting Your Parents’ Friends

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

It seems like every engaged couple has a story like this—they sit down to finalize their guest list of 75 close friends and family members, when suddenly dear old Mom and Dad call to tell you that they’ve already invited your Great Aunt Edna and her three boys, your childhood dentist, your father’s poker buddies and their wives and the entire church congregation.

Add these donations to your guest list to the contributions from your future in-laws and suddenly you are hosting a wedding for 200 guests—not just the 75 you originally planned.

Rant or Rave: White Bridesmaid Dresses

Friday, December 18th, 2009

We’ve all heard this rule before: if you’re attending a wedding, never-ever wear white because white is reserved for the bride and the bride alone.  However, we recently came across some beautiful wedding photos of bridal parties adorned in white.  So, we wondered–is today’s bride willing throw this tradition out the window or do most of us still want to stand out as the only one in pure white?

You tell us! Do white bridesmaid dresses make you want to rant or rave?
