DIY Divas: Place Card Favors
Friday, January 2nd, 2009First off, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I know there are some of you out there that got engaged over the holidays, others who conquered a lot of wedding planning, and still more who’ve taken it easy and are raring to get started in the New Year. To give you a little push in the right direction, I’ve discovered a very simple way to attack both your place cards and your guest favors in one full swoop!
I especially like this idea for a smaller, more intimate wedding, mostly because it could run on the more expensive side.
To start, purchase a small pocket journal, preferably one with an elastic page marker attached, like so:
This particular journal comes in a variety of beautiful colors, so you’ll be sure to find one to match your wedding. They can be purchased here for $9.00 each if you order a quantity of 18 or more.
Next, use the wrapping that came on the journal to measure out a “place card” on your own special paper, whether it be plain or printed. You can also design a nice layout on your computer and print it out, and then cut it to size. Be sure to include your guests names and any additional information, such as wedding date or the couple’s names.
Simply replace the current wrapping with your new design and voila–you have a placecard/wedding favor that is sure to stand out!
Alternatively, you could open the book and stand it up like a tent, and slip a small square or rectangular place card of your own design in to the elastic band. This way, the place card is propped up and more easily visible on the table.
If you are really feeling crafty, you can write a personal note on the first page of the journal to each guest. It’s a lot of work but a beautiful detail and an amazing way of saying thank you to your guests. Whichever you choose, good luck and happy designing!
