Recessionista Bride: Submerged Centerpieces

Monday, August 31st, 2009

If you’re looking for an elegant, but more affordable, centerpiece for your big day, then we suggest that you consider submerged centerpieces.  Submerged centerpieces showcase your flowers in beautiful glassware where the flower is pushed into the vase and is submerged underwater.  They can be used with any flowers, and often cost less because you are using less stems than you would in a traditional centerpieces.

Recessionista Bride: Tokens of Love

simple-wedding-ring-set When I got engaged I was 21 years old and a senior in college.  I know, I know–I was so young!  I was not only young, but I was also broke.  As a result of my empty pockets, my now husband and I had to be really creative and flexible in our every detail of our wedding planning.  This flexibility included our wedding rings.  As a result, I always feel a twinge of jealousy when I see many of my friends receiving dazzling diamonds on their engagement rings,  However, at the end of the day, the fact the my husband had to scrimp and save to buy me the most beautiful ring he could afford at the time always makes my engagement ring feel extra special.

If you are looking for ways to cut costs on your wedding and you can’t bring yourself to spends thousands of dollars on your wedding ring set, remember that simple rings can often be just as beautiful as the big, flashy ones.  It’s about finding a ring that suites your personality. And, remember, you can always get an upgrade later in life!
