Bridal Wedding Kits

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I’m in LOVE with all the wedding products out there-it makes me wish I was still a bride! Here’s a look at some of my favorite beauty kits:

Philosophy, from Sephora, makes a trio of shower gels ($30) with names like Wedding Cake and Bridal Bouquet that sound simply exquisite.

I chose a makeup artist from Bobbi Brown to do my makeup. If you want to save some money and do your own, they have a limited edition kit for about $75 which includes beautiful, natural colors and a gorgeous white makeup case and mirror.

For just $25 you can get everything you need for anything you don’t want to happen on your big day. Think fashion mishaps, from falling hems to slipping straps! Hollywood Fashion Tape has you covered, especially with their Hollywood Nights Evening Bag Essentials kit. It includes mints, blotting sheets, a mirror, fashion tape and a tin to keep everything together. The best thing about it–you can use it before for your bachelorette party and after your wedding day for your honeymoon and nights out with your new husband.

Wedding Hairstyles

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I confess: I was just a big mess when it came to figuring out my hairstyle. I went through four stylists before I found the right one! Instead of getting what I asked for, my hair down with curls, I got various interpretations of what I wanted. Here’s a tip: if you don’t have a regular hairstylist like me, ask your friends and family to refer you to someone, or check out Yelp to read other people’s reviews of stylists in the area.

I was fortunate that after four tries, I finally found someone who did it right. I paid a lot, however, to find her. All the hair trials were costly, but I’m glad I did them because I was really happy with the way my hair turned out.

Another good idea? If you’re looking for a makeup artist, check out your local department store. I had my makeup done at the Bobbi Brown counter, and I loved it! I was already familiar with their makeup, and they don’t charge for trials.

Here’s a few photos of the hairstyle that I didn’t like along with the hairstyle that I did, showcased at the cupcake-eating part of my reception.
