How-To: Gift Tags and Ribbon DIY

Whether you’re looking to add airs and graces to your wedding stationery suite or more of a handcrafted shabby chic feel, our circle gift tags and ribbon will tickle you and your wedding guests pink. Here are two easy ways to add simple embellishments that add to your love story.

DIY #1: Circle Gift Tag, Ribbon & Envelopments©

For this DIY, you will need thick ribbon, an envelopment and a circle gift tag. Style tip: Your circle gift tag selection will depend on where it’s being used. Here it is closing up your wedding stationery suite. In other places, you may choose a simple monogram for the gift tag.

DIY Ribbon Invitation Gift Tag

Get the Look:

  1. After you’ve enclosed all the wedding invite essentials within the envelopment, cut a long piece of ribbon.
  2. Wrap the ribbon around the envelopment and place the circle gift tag over the ribbon and the envelopment to seal it. Ta da!

DIY #2: Gift Tags, Ribbon & Favor Boxes

For this DIY, you can choose thick or thin ribbon or both. The world is your oyster! You’ll also need favor boxes and gift tag stickers.

Wedding Favors, Ribbon, Gift tags

Get the Look:

1. After you have enclosed your delightful favor within the box, cut a piece of ribbon to wrap around the box. The stylish possiblities here are endless: you can double wrap, use two different ribbon colors and different sizes as well.

2. You can choose to tie the ribbon in an elegant bow, or add a gift tag—a circle or square will both do nicely—to seal the deal. Most importantly, remember that good things come in small packages.

DIY Holiday Gift Wrapping

Wrapping gifts is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season, but if you just stick to red and green things can get a little repetitive. If you’re looking for a new way to add a little sparkle to your holiday gifts, give these fun and easy ideas a whirl. Our resident gift wrapping experts have put their heads together to come up with these gorgeous examples, and the best part is that it all starts with simple white wrapping paper!

  • White wrapping paper (or paper in another neutral shade)
  • Satin ribbon in a coordinating hue
  • Buttons, bells, faux flowers and pinecones—whatever catches your eye!
  • Holiday gift tags from our parent site, Tiny Prints (we used our Vibrant Anemones design)

Step One: Wrap the Present

The best advice our expert gift wrapper has is to make sure to cut the wrapping paper down to the correct size to reduce bulges, and to make sure your folds are crisp and neat.

Step Two: Add Your Favorite Extras

My personal favorites are these little gold buttons, but we also played with bells, poinsettias, pine cones and decorative buttons as well. Which look do you like best?

Don’t Forget About Party Favors, Too!

It’s amazing what simple white boxes, a few treats and a Tiny Prints gift tag can do to transform your party favors into something that’s unforgettably chic.

The Out Of Town Gift Bag

Welcome gift bags or baskets are a great way to make sure your out of town guests have a comfortable stay and are aware of all the planned activities for the wedding weekend. You can prepare these gift bags and drop them off to the hotel front desk for the concierge to give to your guests as they check in, or you could even leave the gift bags in your guests’ assigned rooms before they arrive.

What to Include:

  1. A handwritten thank you note to welcome your guests and thank them for traveling all the way to attend your wedding!
  2. A wedding itinerary with a list and details of all the wedding events and activities, as well as a complete schedule of timings and any special appointments.
  3. A map and directions to all the different venues where the wedding events will take place, as well as a number for a cab or limo service in case your guests do not have a car.
  4. A local map of the area and personal suggestions on places to visit or special restaurants to eat at so your guests are not confined to the hotel and can actually explore the surroundings.
  5. Tea bags and sachets of instant coffee that your guests can prepare in their hotel rooms.
  6. Bottles of water, with personalized labels for a special touch!
  7. Various snacks so your guests don’t have to pay for items from the minibar! Make individual packs of nuts and dried fruit and add a personalized sticker label to tie in your wedding theme and colors.
