Lindsy Jennings is one of the happiest and fantastically optimistic women I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Despite a dreadful fall that broke her leg in three places and left her hobbling down the aisle on crutches on her wedding day, she still managed to keep the gigantic smile on her face. Throughout our time together, she consistently focused on what lied before her and in fact was quite uncomfortable conveying any of the disastrous memories from her first wedding. She was so in tune with every moment—surprise after surprise and present to the magic that was happening around her. You see, I learned a great lesson from Lindsy about our reaction to disappointments in life. Sure she was saddened with the outcome of her first wedding but I truly believe that her willingness to leave those memories ‘behind the line’ allowed her to fully enjoy each experience of the new wedding that we were feverishly designing and executing on her behalf. She wasn’t worried about ‘looking good’, ‘feeling embarrassed’ or being paranoid about us making a mockery of her wedding. In essence—Lindsy simply trusted the process and is likely the one bride that enjoyed her ‘do-over’ the most this season. So as the credits rolled last night, I hope that you shared my sentiments knowing that this woman truly deserved her I Do Over!

Here are a few of my favorite moments from this week’s episode that you may have missed:

Behind the scenes on surprise day getting direction from our Executive Producer, Supervising Producer and Director!

Leo Eley deserved a big hug after greasing up my legs for this scene at the dance studio!

It’s always all about the shoes especially when they are Christian Louboutin Spiked Slingbacks… thunder things included!

Lindsy and Reid’s commemorative invite from the Artistic Waves Suite in the Diann Valentine Wedding Stationery Collection!

Of course Lindsy chose style over comfort with these Giuseppe Zanotti stunners that my girl Jamie Steele brought over!

Accepting What We Deserve On “I Do Over” from Diann Valentine

Working with Tasha and Wes Owen was an exceptional joy. Wes’ nervousness at the altar that caused him to faint during their ceremony had a devastating effect on Tasha. I was expecting her disappointment from experiencing this unforeseen and unpreventable disaster. However, I also observed how it seemed to seal her belief that she was un-deserving of a glorious wedding. Tasha has spent her adult life proudly taking care of her husband and her children; which has been her sole focus in life. During our time together, I was amazed at how challenging it was for her to accept all of the good things that were happening. She consistently repeated that she did not deserve all of this which was disturbing for me.  As women, we ALL deserve the perfect wedding—however we define that. Furthermore, I believe that we deserve to be loved beyond measure, pampered, spoiled and taken care of just like we take care of our families.  So my experience with Tasha was an ‘Aha’ moment for me—a moment when I realized that some women can be so beat up by life that they stop dreaming, stop believing and stop hoping for a better tomorrow. My hope is that you watched the end credits of this episode declaring that you too deserve all of the best that life has to offer and if you will only B-E-L-I-E-V-E good things still happen to good people.

Here are a few of my favorite moments from this week’s episode that you may have missed:

This was my favorite ‘Surprise Day’ look even though I initially fought Jason Sky about it! And the Guiseppe Zanotti kicks were fab!

We used this fabulous birdcage from Rrivreworks and placed an Opera singer inside of it during the ceremony… so ethereal!

I so did not want to give Jason Sky and Autumn Clarke back this Alexander McQueen dress!

I loved the intimate ceremony area that included a mixture of furnishings from Arte de Mexico and some of my favorite chair covers from Wildflower Linens!

Our florist Jackie Combs created an amazing fairytale forest for the Owen’s thanks to the thousands of flowers we received from 1-800-FLOWERS!

Wildflower Linens created so many custom tablecloths and chair accents to bring this fairytale wedding reception to life! Photo by Mike Colon.

We penned our own love story depicting the Owen’s love and printed them on my Perfect Peonies Wedding Stationery Collection! Photo by Mike Colon.\

We also presented Tasha and Wes with a commemorative invitation from my Perfect Peonies Wedding Stationery Collection to mark the occasion!

FormDecor Adds ‘Old Hollywood’ Glamour to “I Do Over” from Diann Valentine

We’re happy to bring you this tip from celebrity wedding planner and Wedding Paper Divas stationery designer, Diann Valentine. To shop for her designs, check out our Diann Valentine collection.

I have been a fan of FormDecor for several years. When designing an event I am always looking for eclectic pieces that can work in unison to interpret an overall design aesthetic rather than simply renting a complete lounge grouping of identical pieces. Fritz Williams has carved out a much needed niche of offering authentic vintage modern furniture rentals from some of the most respected designers in furniture design. When the opportunity arose to design an Old Hollywood ‘Vanity Fair’ inspired set for the premiere episode of I Do Over, I knew that Form Décor would have a mix of everything I needed. I recently had a chance to sit down with Fritz, Jeff Sigler and Rachel Michael to chat about just what makes them so fabulous!

DV: I have been a long-time fan of your collection of furnishings because of your artistic perspective that goes into selecting new pieces. What inspires you while you are shopping for an addition to your inventory?

Fritz: Shape. Fabric. Texture. I’m always looking for something unique. I find a lot of inspiration in high-end boutique hotels. And I get very excited when the new Pantone color direction is announced! I want to know what’s going to be in for next season so that we can anticipate style and color demands.

DV: Lounges have become so popular in event design. Where do you see furniture rentals evolving to in our industry?

Jeff: I see event lounges evolving into more accessorized environments that give attendees a comfortable experience like a home setting. Lamps, rugs, pillows…etc.  FormDecor rents all of these to offer more than just furniture—we offer style. Also, just as in our home environments, a suitable lounge is no longer just a repetition of a single seating option. Modern event decor incorporates an eclectic variety of seating elements, including benches and ottomans, daybeds, sofas, loveseats and chairs. When all of these different elements complement each other without being repetitious, that’s what we call style.

DV: Do you design and fabricate original designs or only stick with vintage finds?

Jeff: We obtain our furniture from a wide variety of sources.  It suits our eclectic nature!  By repurposing vintage finds, we not only help the environment, but we get to have a lot of fun re-inventing the past.  Of course retro modern reproductions will always be in high demand.  And when we just can’t find what we need to suit a particular event design, we work with our many talented fabrication resources to create something unique and… always… functional.

DV: Your pieces allowed me to design a ‘Vanity Fair’ set for Dana & Mike Santini—the couple that viewers will meet on our premiere episode after they had no memorable photographs from their wedding due to bridesmaids dresses disaster on I Do Over. What tips would you give a bride or event designer using your pieces to create a memorable and unique backdrop?

Fritz: Really utilize the rental resources available to you to make it your own space.

Jeff: Yes, use elements in your event décor that represent your style and theme. When photos are taken of you and your guests, you want to have a background that represents a cohesive style…a style that represents you and the occasion.

Fritz: FormDecor’s background screens are very useful to set the tone and define an area. Savvy event designers are using our screen panels to cover up the parts of a venue that don’t fit consistently with their style.
