Planning a destination wedding on a gorgeous beach somewhere? We’ve got some ideas to inspire you!
From wedding invitations to reception decor, a nautical wedding theme gives a bride plenty of options – whether the wedding is seaside or not! What we love most about this wedding theme is the element of fun it brings to your special day. After all, it’s hard to stay too serious when your groomsmen are showing off their anchor socks. But don’t let the fun fool you. This classic theme offers elegant touches, from stripes to gorgeous cakes, and of course, the timeless color combination of red and blue.
Here are five of our favorite nautical wedding inspirations:

Your wedding destination will play a major role in deciding on your gown for the big day, as you take into consideration the fabric, style, and ease of wear for that specific climate. Depending on the weather and your personal style, you might opt for a tea-length dress, or a more streamlined cut in an easy fabric. And of course, appropriate shoes for the terrain.
Our pick for a tropical, beachy wedding is the Dune gown from J. Crew Bridal in a pleated silk chiffon, with a cascading organza flower trim. The floor length cut will be easy to manage, while the breezy, flowy fabric will look effortlessly glamourous.

I am having a destination wedding in Acapulco. Is it necessary to give favors to the guests? I don’t want to bring a lot of extra stuff with me.
While favors aren’t mandatory, it is a nice gesture to thank your guests—especially considering guests will be traveling to get to the wedding. The favors don’t need to be elaborate or expensive, but rather a token of appreciation. One idea is to get local goodies in your wedding location—you could buy Mexican wedding cookies and package them while you’re there. Another idea is to go with the travel theme and use luggage tags that double as escort cards and favors (like the picture above). A fairly small item that serves two purposes will help save on precious luggage space.
P.S. One great way to add a personal touch to your local favors is to top them off with a gift tag that includes your names or initials and wedding date. Plus, they are small enough to stick in your purse or carry on.
Hope that helps!

The warm weather has us in a beachy, destination wedding mindset this week. We love the chic color combination of peachy coral and gold, softened with natural textures like burlap and twine. Make use of local elements like interesting seashells and tropical flowers for the perfect touch.
Today’s Real Wedding features the destination wedding of Valeria and Gary, which took place in Maui, Hawaii. The ceremony and reception were held at a beautful church in Lahaina. After the ceremony all the guests participated in a butterfly releasing ceremony to wish the new couple all the best for years to come. Here are some of the stunning photos, courtesy of Judy Tran and Gavin Holt.
