Heavenly Dessert Tables from Amy Atlas

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

As if dessert tables weren’t already scrumptious enough, New York-based event planner Amy Atlas has turned the act of arranging sweets into a true art form. One of our own stylish Wedding Paper Divas staffers found her website while searching for design inspiration, and all of us in the office have been oohing and aahing over her work ever since!

If you aren’t lucky enough to live in the New York area, check out Amy’s website to glean some inspiration from her spectacular photos. The next time you have a bridal shower, birthday party or other big event to plan, stick with one primary color scheme and arrange your desserts in varying layers to approximate Amy’s super chic look.

Disney Proposal

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

My husband proposed to me at the “happiest place on earth.” I am a big Disney fan, so when he had the opportunity to ask me in DisneyWorld (the smart guy he is) he took it. Atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort on the 15th floor at a popular restaurant called California Grill, he proposed.

Although I admit I wasn’t surprised since we chose a ring, he knew how I felt about Disney and I saw the hostess’s shocked expression when she was handed a card that I imagined read something like, “He’s going to propose,” I was still surprised by the place and how he did it.

Every night at 10 pm there is a fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. At the California Grill, there is an observation deck where you get a bird’s eye view of the fireworks. Not only did I get to take in the beauty of the fireworks, but the restaurant also had speakers outside so you could hear the music that went along with it. The whole thing was so beautiful that I was crying way before the actual proposal. It was after dinner when it happened. My ring came gorgeously wrapped and placed on my dessert plate. In chocolate, it said, “Will you marry me?”

Got a great proposal story? Tell us! We’d love to hear it.
