OneWed recently emailed us a list of the site’s top 10 wedding trends for 2011, and for most of them we couldn’t agree more! Here are a few of the top trends we agree will be making a big splash in the coming year:
From big vineyard weddings to intimate backyard events, we love the idea of getting married in the great outdoors this year.
Gray is the New Black, Crazy for Navy
We particularly love pairing gray and navy tones with vibrant hues for a bold look in 2011.
Mad for Metallics
The right hint of gold, silver or copper will add a welcome sense of luxe style to your wedding planning.
Wedding Invitations Go Green
Wedding Paper Divas has always been way ahead of this trend! All of our collections feature a combination of recycled paper, post-consumer waste material, elementally chlorine-free ink or sustainable forestry practices.
Cultural Wedding Details
Our new collection (which has already started to be released!) features a wealth of culturally inspired designs that we’re calling “Haute Heritage.”

Summer always brings to mind thoughts of warm weather and bright, bold colors, so hosting a summer wedding celebration nearly requires that your save the date cards conjure up the same images. Even if you aren’t hosting a beach wedding, you can easily create chic, customized save the date cards that will epitomize your guests’ favorite parts of summer if you follow these easy steps to creating the perfect summer save the date cards for your celebration.
Plus, don’t forget—save the date cards should be sent at least six months in advance of your wedding date.
Pair a crisp, cool color with a bold, vibrant one. Select colors that are complimentary, but not too similar—think mellow gray with sunshiny yellow, or deep navy blue with crisp, classic white. These contrasts will give your summer save the date cards an extra sense of depth and charm.
Sending them in winter? Scale back the summer motifs. Instead of covering your save the date cards with palm trees and seashells, simply use a single anchor or the image of a sailboat to indicate to your guests that your sweet summer wedding is looming on the horizon.
Leave something to the imagination. Don’t be afraid to add a little mystery to your summer save the dates. Hint at the theme of your event, but don’t show your whole hand too soon.
Follow these simple guidelines as an easy way to incorporate summer style into your save the date cards, and you and your guests will be looking forward to your chic celebration in no time!
Want to keep the celebration going long after you say “I do?” Wedding announcements are the perfect way to share your recent nuptials with guests who regretfully declined your invite, or with friends, family, coworkers and other acquaintances who weren’t invited but would still be delighted by the news that you tied the knot.
These are my top picks from our striking collection of wedding announcements—which do you see yourself in?
Not sure who exactly gets a wedding announcement? You’re not alone. Read this Diva Dish to learn more about wedding announcement etiquette.
One of our customers is hosting an elegant wedding full of traditional style, but she’s facing a dilemma because fell in love with one of our more casual save the date card designs. Here’s what she emailed us:
My wedding invitations are going to be super formal to match the style of our big black tie event, but I’d like to send more casual save the date cards. Should the save the dates match my wedding invitations, or should we stick to more formal designs for the save the dates as well?
Thanks for your help!
Save the Date Sarah
Thank you for the question, Sarah!
We think that selecting your save the date cards is one of the best parts of wedding planning. Since save the date cards are usually casual, you can definitely be playful and have fun with your personal style without compromising the look of your entire event.
That being said, there are a few things to remember. If you’re hosting a formal wedding, don’t let your save the date cards stray too far from that look. You can still add photos and playful text, but always remember that your save the date cards set the tone for the rest of your event. If they are completely different from the style of your invitations, your guests might be confused about the style of your ceremony.
For instance, these unique save the date cards (including some of our new save the date postcards!) would perfectly match a formal wedding without sacrificing the fun, casual vibe you said you preferred:
But these more modern designs might be too indie for the wedding you intend to have (even though they are super cute!).
What do you think? Do you have any suggestions for Sarah? Post them in a comment and we’ll make sure she gets them!
We’ve been promising their debut for a while, but the day is finally here—Wedding Paper Divas is thrilled to announce the launch of our brand new line of save the date magnets!
By combining style and functionality, these charming magnets are sure to land in the coveted spot on the middle of your friends’ refrigerator doors for months before your wedding (and probably for long after you say, “I do,” too!).
We also offer adorable save the date postcards in addition to our selection of classic save the date cards, so we think all of this variety begs the question—which type of couple are you? Would you opt for save the date cards, postcards or magnets? Why?
One of our savvy bride-to-be staffers had this great idea on how to ask her flower girl and ring bearer to be a part of the wedding. She personalized two adorable Wedding Paper Divas bridal shower invitations with the recipients’ names and details of the wedding. The Bountiful Bouquet design and Rings Intertwined design worked perfectly for the flower girl and ring bearer. The personal touch makes a truly special gesture, and the cards are cute enough to add to a scrapbook and keep forever!
As more and more weddings are making the move outdoors, I can’t help but gush over all of the beautiful nature-inspired stationery designs that are sprouting up.
Whether you’re looking for an invite that’s earth-friendly, seasonally themed or simply stunning, there is an abundance of unique and memorable options to fit your style, naturally. And don’t forget about color! Mother Nature provides a pretty amazing palette to pick from.
I am so smitten with the fresh, organic appeal of these designs. Which one is your favorite?
