Colorful Outdoor Wedding with a 50s Theme

Today, this colorful 50s themed wedding is rocking our world! From the polka dot dresses to catching a ride on the zoo carousel, this entire wedding day was filled with so much character. This is also the perfect inspiration for a Kate Spade wedding theme. We love all of the vibrant colors paired with classic black and white tones.

How Did the Proposal Happen?

It was a random Monday night, when Jeff called Joy into the kitchen to see a trick he had taught the dogs. Jeff asked her to hold 3 dog treats in her hand, and shut her eyes.

Joy was secretly hoping he had somehow taught Mike to stand on Louis’ back, the way that goats can sometimes be stacked, one up on top of the other. However, that is not the trick that Jeff had up his sleeve. After a few minutes, Joy looked down to find that each dog was sitting in front of her with a small cardboard sign hung around their neck. The signs read, “Will”, “You”, “Marry”….and then there was Jeff, down on one knee, holding a sign that read, “Me?” Joy said “Yes!” followed by, “Oh my god, we’re in sweatpants!!” They laughed and kissed each other before sharing the big news with all of their loved ones.

Affordable Ideas for a Colorful Rustic Wedding

Don’t want to spend a fortune on your wedding day? Leave it up to Mother Nature to create the most beautiful combination of woodsy neutrals and an array of pinks, yellows and oranges. Envision this for a colorful, rustic wedding theme: unfinished wood slices on tabletops, colorful bouquets and a beautiful wedding invitation to match.

Need to give your venue a warm glow? Arrange various-sized tree stumps in a large open space and place glass candle vases on top. The flickering light and warm neutrals will create a romantic atmosphere that’s inviting, and not to mention, perfect for a rustic theme! Pick any size candles you desire! An array of tealight candles scattered about, will also make a luxurious statement.

Not big on frosting? Try a naked cake! Not only are these sweet treats adorable and perfect for a rustic wedding theme, they are often less expensive. Without a baker needing to spend hours creating the perfect masterpiece with delicate pieces of fondant, there is usually less labor involved with this style of cake.

Let wood and bright-colored flowers bring the outdoors to your tablescapes and venue décor. It’s the kind of look you’ll love revisiting, photo after photo.

Spring Wedding Colors in a Bay Area Winery

Today, we are so overjoyed to be sharing Alex and Sara’s amazing day. While their vibrant wedding favored an overall yellow and grey wedding theme, their entire event was filled with an abundance of pretty spring wedding colors! We love how chic their rustic, chalkboard wedding invitations looked at their winery wedding.

From The Bride:

Alex and I first laid eyes on each other in high school- we were only 15! We were on our way to a Sadie’s Hawkins dance and met during the proverbial “picture taking” beforehand at a mutual friend’s house. We weren’t each others’ dates but should have been with all the flirting we were doing.

We became high school sweethearts, but then decided to go our separate ways in college to do some (much needed!) growing up. Near the end of college our paths managed to cross again; and we’ve been together ever since.

I wanted to make sure that our wedding had a lot of special details. My “Something borrowed” was the pair of earrings my older sister wore back on her wedding day. I think they were great luck! For the reception, I had my dad build a custom seating assignment chart. It was a 6×8 ft board with a sign instructing guests to “Trace Your Roots to Sara and Alex”. The roots spread out across the entire board, and each root represented a special part of Alex’s and my life. For example, “Chi Omega” was the grouping for all my sorority sisters, “Liman” (the street Alex lived on in college) was the grouping for his college roommates. We also had a special section at the venue to show a “Family Tree” of marriages. We framed our grandparents and parents wedding photos, all coming together in the middle with one of our engagement pictures. We could not have been more excited to share our special day will all of our amazing loved ones!
