Bride’s Diary: Last-Minute Wedding Planning Checklist

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

Well, it is about three weeks before the big day. I can’t believe how quickly time flew by since I got engaged a year ago! Since I still have a couple more important tasks to complete, I have made a wedding planning checklist of my last minute details that I am working on.

To-Do Before Wedding:

-Complete the final fitting for my wedding dress

-Order thank you cards and matching address labels. I’m loving these to go with my garden wedding theme:

-I still need to meet with my event planner tomorrow to finalize which linens, plates, and flowers I will use. I am completely inspired by these tablescapes below and am doing a combination of the two, with shades of pink, white and green flowers, off-white linens, bistro lights and hanging lanterns:

-Finalize ceremony vows

-Order wedding programs and wedding place cards (like these):

-Pick up bridesmaids gifts

- Make a schedule for the wedding weekend which includes a contact list of wedding vendors

- Attend the pre-wedding hair and makeup consultation (very excited for this one!)

-Meet with DJ for final walk-through at the venue

-Get marriage license (kind of a big one)

After I complete this list, then I will be able to breathe a bit easier! I can’t wait to unveil how everything turns out for my big day. Cheers!

Bride’s Diary: It’s Official!

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

Wow! I can’t believe that on Saturday it will already be one month since Adam and I said I do. Everything has flown by so quickly these past few weeks but we both survived! The wedding was more than we could have ever imagined. In the morning I drank some champagne and watched Sex And The City with my girls—so fun and a great way to set the tone for the rest of the day. The weather was perfect and everything (well almost) ran smoothly. I just learned to go with the flow and be as relaxed as possible.

If I could give you one piece of advice, relax! Some things are going to be beyond your control and there is no point in stressing out about those things you cannot change. Enjoy every moment, good or bad, and know that everything will turn out the way it’s meant to. Take in as many moments as you can because it goes by so fast.

With that, here are some highlights from the big day! Photos compliments of Rock The Image.

Meet Ashley

Ashley and Adam met a little over three years ago when they were both out with friends at a bar. They spent the night talking about sports and dealing with other friends’ drama. A few days later they went on their first date and have been inseparable since. Three years later, Adam popped the question to a very surprised Ashley!

Ashley and Adam were married April 28, 2012 at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga, California.

Bride’s Diary: Registry Madness!

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

It is now five months before the wedding, and I am now thinking all about my wedding registry. My fiancé David and I have lived together for over six years, so honestly, what do we need? A new set of dishes perhaps? Bedding? A new coffee table? Sounds good to me!

We have decided to register at Pottery Barn, Macy’s and Target. I’m not going to lie, I have my eye on several things.  Here is a sneak peek into my registry…

I am registering for that fabulous vintage trunk from Pottery Barn which will be used either as a coffee table or at the foot of our bed:

My fiancé David and I are big entertainers, so we thought the platter below from Pottery barn was also a must-have!

Here are two of my absolute faves that we registered for from Target:

Hope you enjoyed my little preview, and I can’t wait to check in again on my wedding planning soon!

I can’t believe that the big day is only a month away! Time has flown by. Since my last entry my Maid of Honor and one of my Bridesmaids threw a gorgeous shower that was accompanied by amazing weather! Here is my invite and some pictures from the day:

Yummy food!

Getting ready to open presents

It was such a perfect day with a wonderful group of people!

Now that the wedding is quickly approaching, I feel relaxed but my mind is constantly racing with things that we need to get done.  Hopefully my bachelorette party is this weekend will take my mind off of things. We are headed down to Paso Robles for some wine tasting and good times! Can’t wait!

Bride’s Diary: February Showers Bring Fun, Fun, Fun

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

This past weekend I celebrated my bridal shower with those nearest and dearest. My mom and a few friends flew up from Los Angeles to join my local friends and family—what a nice treat! I had no idea what to expect since they kept most of the details under wraps. They did however consult me on the invitations (I mean I do work at a stationery company, after all) and I’ve loved this design from Tiny Prints since the moment I laid eyes on it. So we re-purposed it for my bridal shower. How cute!

One of my bridesmaids had the shower at her house. While on the way there I realized I have never had a party thrown for me as an adult. A whole new experience! When I arrived, I was totally stunned at what a wonderful bash they all put together. Decorations, tons of delicious homemade food, a slide show of me throughout the years, music, friends, family and all kinds of fun, new games!

Here are some of the highlights:

This doesn’t do all the delicious food justice, but to give you a taste.

A few of my favorite people…

Dan’s adorable cousin modeling the latest wedding toilet paper fashion!

Making perfume!

Opening tons of thoughtful gifts.

Bride’s Diary: Managing Your Vendors

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

The day is getting closer and closer and it is starting to sink in that in just 72 days I will be married! With the major items booked and ordered, the planning process is starting to feel much more relaxed. The calm before the storm!

With the details coming into place I have been emailing with my vendors a lot more. This is where being organized is very helpful and also having a fabulous day-of coordinator who has helped me start constructing the day-of details.

Here are some tips with vendor management before the big day:

  1. Keep a spreadsheet of your vendors with their contact information as well as payment information. In my wedding binder I have copies of the contracts, checks deposited and invoices for each vendor. In the front section I have a calendar with payment dates so I don’t forget. I would also recommend putting this information in your phone or whatever calendar you like to use.
  2. It’s important to email vendors with any restrictions, timing changes, etc. as soon as you get the information. This will save a lot of headaches as the big day gets closer or on the day itself.
  3. Confirm the arrival and departure time of every vendor and put that in your spreadsheet to reference.
  4. Never feel like you are annoying them. If you have questions or concerns let them know. They want your day to be just as perfect as you do.

Do you have any tips on how you’re managing your vendors or how you managed them during your wedding planning?

Bride’s Diary: I Love Them All! How Do I Choose?!

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

When I first started to “plan” my wedding a couple months ago, I knew that I wanted a “girly and vintage garden party” themed wedding. Pink was a must.

Simple enough, right? Pink. Not so much…

Now that I have been in touch with different florists, they have been asking me questions like, “what type of flowers do you want?” Or, “specifically, what shades of pink do you want in your bouquets?” “Do you want pink flowers mixed with other colors as well?” Good question! I have been scratching my head for the past couple weeks because I don’t know what shades of pink or what types of arrangements I want to do on the tables. Here are a couple of my inspirations:

Do I go with this pretty pastel palette of garden roses mixed with peonies and yellow roses…

There is always the choice of gorgeous all-pink displays with multiple bouquets as well:

Or a fabulously girly, yet sophisticated bouquet of white, light pink, dark pink and green…

And swooning over these perfectly pink peonies all in a row…

And then there is this image of pink, purple and yellow, which is exquisite too! Not to mention the touch of lace…

I could literally go on and on with inspirations. See my Pinterest account for proof!

I am learning towards the simplicity of the darker pink flowers in the second photo, but I’m not sure! Stay tuned to see what I choose—your guess is as good as mine!

Bride’s Diary: Planning the Honeymoon

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

I can’t believe there are only three more months until Adam and I say “I do!” With almost all of the big things now booked and taken care of, we are now focused on our honeymoon. A few months ago I asked Adam where he wanted to go and right away he said, Italy—one of my favorites to visit! Since he had never been before and I have a couple times, I suggested we go to the northern part of Italy, as it (I feel) would be the best place to go for his first time.

We sat down and came up with a plan. We would start in Rome, then head up to Siena and Florence, then finish off our trip with a drive down the Mediterranean coast. When planning your honeymoon it is important to have a plan of what cities you would like to visit, and then you can build your trip upon that. It is also important that you do/see something each of you would like, especially if one of you has been to your destination before.

After we booked our flight we started looking at hotels. Adam realized he could use his Marriott points and ended up booking the beautiful Boscolo Palace Roma hotel in Rome and because he used his points, we got the fifth night free! We are also going to be using my Visa Rewards points to book our hotel in Florence!

Next we will sit down with my Uncle—who is from Milan and travels to Italy many times a year for work—and plan out the rest of the details. Because I have been Rome and Florence before, I know which places we should see and which we should skip, but having someone who knows the area well will help when it comes down to the details like where to eat and what off-the-map places we should see.

Here are my tips for planning your honeymoon:

  • Decide where you both would like to go early on in your wedding planning so you can start looking out for deals.
  • If you have points (i.e. frequent flyer miles, credit card points, etc.) see if you can use them on your trip. This really helps to cut down on cost!
  • Remember this is a trip for the both of you to celebrate your new life together. Compromise and do/see things you both want. And if you are going to a foreign country, like Italy, make sure you pick a hotel/resort at some point on your trip where you can take a break and relax for a couple days. Enjoy this time together!
  • If you know someone who is from or has traveled to your destination before, use them as a resource. You will probably get tips and ideas from them you can’t find in a travel book or on a website.
  • Lastly, book the big stuff first (flights, hotels, car) worry about the details later. Don’t stress yourself out early on in your wedding planning with the honeymoon details, you have enough to stress about. Two-three months out is a good time to start planning the little things.

Happy Honeymooning!

Bride’s Diary: Details, Details and More Details

I sort of feel like I am up to my ears in details. All those little last details that you can’t really start on until a few months before the wedding. Decorations, timelines, flowers, songs, jewelry, makeup, vows (ok, will this list ever end?). I still have 4 months but I am starting to feel the crunch. Nonetheless, I have lists galore, checklists and timelines to keep me on track. Only problem? Finding the time. Anyway, I am sure it will all come together slowly but surely.

In happier news, we got our honeymoon registry up and running. The most exciting part? We just got a mystery gift that was beyond generous. I am completely intrigued as to who sent it. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

While on the topic of our honeymoon, did you hear about the Italian cruiseship that crashed? Well, that is the exact ship we are supposed to go on. It is such a horrible and tragic incident—we feel horrible for all the people involved. But as far as what are we going to do? Your guess is as good as ours. After the crash of the economy in Greece (which changed our first honeymoon itinerary), I figure this too will work itself out.

I’m ready to see what ups and downs come our way in the next couple months. Definitely looking forward to my bridal shower next month and the bachelorette party after that. I’ll be back to share all the details with you…

Meet Jessica

Jessica and Dan met nearly 7 years ago on Myspace. (Remember Myspace?) It took weeks of contemplation until they decided to finally meet… and I guess you could say the rest was history. After discovering their mutual shoe addiction, surviving countless Thanksgiving family meals together and three apartment/house moves later—they are officially ready to tie the knot.

Jessica and Dan are getting married May 27, 2012 at Malibou Lake Mountain Club in Los Angeles.

Bride’s Diary: The Bridesmaid Dresses!

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

Well, I am five months into wedding planning, and now the bridesmaid’s dresses are at top of mind. I have twelve bridesmaids. Yes, twelve. I have six sisters (two real sisters, two sisters-in-law and two God sisters) and six best friends, and I wanted everyone to be a part of my special day—the more the merrier! I am extremely excited about including my favorite gals, but the large bridal party has me a tad stumped on what dresses to choose.

I have been scouring Pinterest 24/7 for pictures of larger bridal parties, and have come to the conclusion that having a muted color palette of either grey, blush pink or beige is less overwhelming, incredibly romantic looking and doesn’t drown out the bride in pictures. Here are a couple inspirations:

I adore these muted colors—so romantic and timeless, and looks great on a larger bridal party.

Another question I’m having is do I want matching dresses, the same fabric but in different styles or to have my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses in this muted color palette or a specific color I choose? I can’t decide!

Thank goodness I have a couple more months to have a plan! What do you think? I would love some feedback!
