DIY: Embellished Place Settings

Wedding season is in full swing, which can only mean that bridal showers are too. So, we thought it’d be the perfect time to share a chic shower DIY that’s easy to make—and easy on any planner’s budget.Embellishing your guests’ place settings is a fun way to add a dash of elegance to your event, and your bride will absolutely love the thought.

Here’s how it’s done…

Supplies

  • Kraft paper
  • White paint pen
  • Clear glass plates

Step 1: Set the Stage

Turn your kraft paper into a tablecloth. If space doesn’t permit, cut runners or rectangular shapes for each spot.

Step 2: Get Creative

Use the paint pen to write out each guests’ name. Add fun flourishes, delicate dots and more! You can even use this space to play up your party’s theme. Just make sure to keep your handcrafted design within the shape and size of the plate that it will sit under.

Step 3: Add the Finishing Touches

Place your plate, silverware and glassware down. Step back and smile knowing that guests are going to love it!

If  you try this idea yourself, or if you have any DIY ideas to share, send your photos to blog@weddingpaperdivas.com and we’ll post them for all of our fans and followers.

Ask Etta: Sending Gifts for a Bridal Shower You Can’t Attend?

While we dish about the hottest trends and latest designs (aka the fun parts of wedding planning!) we also know how stressful prepping for the big day can be. So, we would like to formally introduce you to Etta, our new etiquette expert. She’s ready and happy to delve into your every etiquette dilemma.

Angela Asks…

I’m not able to make it to my cousin’s bridal shower. Should I still send a gift?

Etta Says…

While gift giving is never a requirement, bridal showers are the only pre-wedding event where gifts are typically expected. You should never feel obligated to send a gift if you can’t attend, but it is a nice gesture if you’re able to do so—and one the bride will truly appreciate!

Respondez sil vous plait: Confessions of a Bridesmaid

The Wedding Paper Divas headquarters is bustling with bridesmaids helping their friends, siblings and sorority sisters plan their weddings. These are their confessions…

My Dearest Bride,

I really would love for all your closest friends to be able to attend the fabulous bridal shower I’m planning! At the same time, I would love to make sure that I’m aware of how many individuals I will be accommodating. How embarrassing for a guest to show up and find that the chairs are in fact numbered, and each setting does have a place card, and there isn’t one for them?

response card

Though it’s not my job to hunt people down and ask them for a “yes” or “no” on their attendance, neither is it yours. I understand that I don’t know some of the guests who are invited, but they are adults and I am pretty sure they are capable of replying by the date listed on the invite, without your encouragement. I just want you to come to the shower and enjoy, not worry about the little details of monitoring the guestlist!

When it comes down to the last minute, I can always check in with a guest who hasn’t responded. But it’s my headache, not yours.

Love,

Your Bridal Shower Planner Extraordinaire
