This week’s Real Wedding is the beautiful celebration of Mary and Andreas which took place at Casa Tortuga in San Pedro, and Ambergris Caye in Belize.
Mary and Andreas met while she was traveling in Thailand. He was her diving instructor. So they held the wedding in Belize to capture their love found deep at sea – complete with recycled driftwood, sea turtles, and diving during the week getaway.
This week’s Real Wedding is the beautiful celebration of Heather and Will, held at Longboat Key Club & Resort in Longboat Key, Florida. They held a tying the knot ceremony instead of the traditional sand or candle lighting. Both of their moms carried a nautical rope down the ceremony isle as a symbol of their two families coming together. During the ceremony they tied the knot into a fisherman’s knot, which is the strongest knot and gets tighter when pulled. The couple plans to display the rope in their home.
Today’s Real Wedding features the beach wedding of Sarah and Kiley, which was held on the beaches of The Outer Banks, North Carolina. They had a wonderful steel drum band for their ceremony music and cocktail hour which set the most romantic, tropical feel for the entire event.
Today’s Real Wedding features the outdoor wedding of Kathryn and Eddie, which took place at the Hilton Oceanfront Hotel in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Kathryn is Canadian and Eddie is American, so it brought two families, and two countries, together for this special day!
The warm weather has us in a beachy, destination wedding mindset this week. We love the chic color combination of peachy coral and gold, softened with natural textures like burlap and twine. Make use of local elements like interesting seashells and tropical flowers for the perfect touch.
Having a beachy destination wedding? Take inspiration from your surroundings to build your color palette! Cool blue waters inspire crisp shades of turquoise and marine as seen in today’s inspiration board.
We love this unique take on a destination wedding theme from our wedding favors partner, Beau-coup! It’s the perfect inspiration as you plan a romantic escape for your big day. For more fresh inspiration and wedding ideas, check out the Beau-coup blog.
Winter often makes me long for tropical island getaways, and this week’s theme is the perfect cure for the snow. For this wedding theme, take your inspiration from the days of swashbuckling pirates, mercenaries and worldwide trading expeditions (especially those that ended on exotic islands filled with plenty of promise for a new world and might have held stashed loot).
Set the scene on an isolated beach in a tropical locale, like Hawaii or somewhere in the Caribbean.
Use old navigation charts to add a dash of adventure to your decor, get creative by using palm fronds to house your bouquet and make your entrance or getaway on a row boat. You could even use a vintage trunk to house your wedding favors, and use pieces of driftwood as place cards.
Take your cue from Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean and wear your hair in flowing tousled waves paired with a long flowy gown with plenty of ruffled details at the bottom and lacy overlays, or keep it simple and make your statement in your jewelry. Be sure to provide some cute parasols for your bridesmaids and get ready to impress.
