Bride’s Diary: Details, Details and More Details

I sort of feel like I am up to my ears in details. All those little last details that you can’t really start on until a few months before the wedding. Decorations, timelines, flowers, songs, jewelry, makeup, vows (ok, will this list ever end?). I still have 4 months but I am starting to feel the crunch. Nonetheless, I have lists galore, checklists and timelines to keep me on track. Only problem? Finding the time. Anyway, I am sure it will all come together slowly but surely.

In happier news, we got our honeymoon registry up and running. The most exciting part? We just got a mystery gift that was beyond generous. I am completely intrigued as to who sent it. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

While on the topic of our honeymoon, did you hear about the Italian cruiseship that crashed? Well, that is the exact ship we are supposed to go on. It is such a horrible and tragic incident—we feel horrible for all the people involved. But as far as what are we going to do? Your guess is as good as ours. After the crash of the economy in Greece (which changed our first honeymoon itinerary), I figure this too will work itself out.

I’m ready to see what ups and downs come our way in the next couple months. Definitely looking forward to my bridal shower next month and the bachelorette party after that. I’ll be back to share all the details with you…

Meet Jessica

Jessica and Dan met nearly 7 years ago on Myspace. (Remember Myspace?) It took weeks of contemplation until they decided to finally meet… and I guess you could say the rest was history. After discovering their mutual shoe addiction, surviving countless Thanksgiving family meals together and three apartment/house moves later—they are officially ready to tie the knot.

Jessica and Dan are getting married May 27, 2012 at Malibou Lake Mountain Club in Los Angeles.

Bride’s Diary: The One Year Mark

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

As promised, I’ll pick up our wedding planning process from the one year mark. Between June and now, a lot has taken place. We’ve hired a photographer, booked a caterer, found a florist and ordered bridesmaid dresses! (This list makes me tired just typing it.) Sounds so simple when you put it on paper, but trust me a lot of meetings, phone calls and emails went into finding the perfect vendors.

While all of this has been going on, my bridesmaids have booked and started planning the bachelorette party. Palm Springs, here we come! I have to say, I am most excited about the bachelorette party… spending time with my best friends, relaxing and celebrating. I mean how can you not look forward to spending a weekend here?

Umm, did I forget to mention the cake topper?  We also ordered that and I ‘m really excited about it.  Really…does it get any cuter?

We are now trying to tackle the question of where to go on our honeymoon. The list started out long: Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesian Islands, Greece, South America… you get the picture. But, as of today, I think we have settled on the Mediterranean. I signed up for a honeymoon planning service through Jetsetter that I am really excited about. They help you pick destinations, book hotels and make recommendations. Fingers crossed that this will help alleviate some planning time. Trying to keep my eyes on the prize:

This weekend we’ll be flying to LA to meet with our makeup artist, do two cake tastings and meet with multiple DJs (hopefully we can choose one soon). Despite the hectic schedule, I am trying to keep in mind how truly fun all of these things are. I mean cake and makeup and shopping and music. It could definitely be worse. Much worse…

How Much is Too Much: Rant or Rave

Everybody knows that weddings aren’t cheap (to put it mildly). But the parties leading up to them can really add up for the guests. Gifts. Travel. Accommodations. Outfits. The list goes on. What do you think is too much? If the couple is having an out-of-town wedding is it too much to have a destination bachelorette party and expect people to come? Is bringing a gift for every event (engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party and wedding) too much or just plain courtesy?

We are so intrigued to find out what you guys think… so, go ahead, rant or rave!

Shared Destination Bachelor and Bachelorette Party: Rant or Rave

Stories of wedding party planning are a regular occurrence here at the Wedding Paper Divas headquarters as many of us are donning the title of bridesmaid or groomsman (and even some the bride or groom!). We love hearing all the different ways couples plan to spend their last fling before the ring—and this one is no exception…

The entire bridal party is heading to Vegas for a coed bachelor and bachelorette party weekend. The first night is designated for ladies-only and guys-only, respectively, while the second night will be shared by all. What do you think about a coed destination bachelor and bachelorette party?

Would you ever opt for a joint celebration with your future hubby and all his friends or is a girls-only weekend an absolute must? Do coed bachelor and bachelorette parties make you want to rant or rave?
