Rant or Rave: Trashing the Dress

“Trash the dress” photo sessions are a growing trend in wedding photography. The day after the wedding, the bride and groom do a photo shoot in their wedding attire. Whether it’s in the desert, the ocean or an abandoned lot… the common theme is a place they can get creative (even if that means dirty).

Your wedding dress is very often the most expensive piece of clothing you will ever buy. Could you get over that thought for some pretty amazing photos? Or would you rather pass your dress on, preserve it for safekeeping or sell it? Rant or rave!

I fully intended to have a Trash the Dress photo session but I just couldn’t go through it! A year later, my dress is safe and “un-trashed.”

Wow! What a thought! I’d have never thought of trashing a wedding dress, but I must admit that the photos above are pretty unique and look like tons of fun!

For people who like a march to a different drum, this is perfect!

I would! It’s just a dress and can be salvaged if you don’t totally trash it. I took part in a Trash the Dress session when I was a bridesmaid and the dress came out in great shape. Nothing a dry cleaner couldn’t take care of. The real thing is how you feel while you are wearing your dress. If you feel that trashing your dress with the love of your life is the best way to remember how you felt on your wedding day, then do it! If not, then make sure you preserve it for your daughters!
