One of the biggest trends in wedding photography these days is to “trash the dress.” After the ceremony, the bride schedules one more photo shoot where she literally ruins her dress in the waves on the beach, in an industrial junkyard, out in the snow or in a variety of other creative ways. This practice makes for some pretty cool photos (check some of them out at the Trash the Dress website), but some argue that it seems more than a little indulgent to ruin a dress that could be given to charity or kept for future generations. What do you think? Does the Trash the Dress trend make you want to rant or rave?

you spend so much time looking for the “perfect” dress that i could not imagine trashing my so soon after then event! plus, wedding dresses arent cheap. i just dont think i could do something like that – no matter how “cool” the photo.

As a photographer who has photographed several TTD sessions, and as a bride who has trashed her OWN dress…definitely a RAVE! Without a doubt, these are the most fun sessions EVER! **And, I haven’t had a dress yet that didn’t come completely clean and get boxed up all nice and neat for all eternity!
