If you search on YouTube for “Wedding Dances,” you will find thousands of videos showcasing funny, unique and often impressive first dance performances by brides and grooms. From hip hop dancers to couples who have tirelessly practiced a perfect imitation of the choreography from the final scene of “Dirty Dancing,” there seems to be a growing trend among brides and grooms to turn the traditional first dance into an all-out performance. What do you think? Would you put your moves on display during your first dance? Does a funky first dance make you want to rant or rave?

OK–while I think this can be kind of funny, especially for people who know the couple, I feel for the bridal party if they are included! I had a friend who had to be in a wedding where they did this entire crazy dance to “Thriller”…she was traumatized for weeks leading up to the wedding. Not only was it stage fright, but she was NOT confident in her dancing skills and doesn’t like to perform! Much of the bridal party felt the same way, however, all were forced to do it out of loyalty to the couple. I’m sure it depends on the bridal party, but be sure they are ok with it before you do something like this! Or just do a couples dance

that’s a fun idea. It went on a little too long, but I bet the guests had a ball

i would want to make my “first dance” unique…but not an all out performance.

I love it! Dancing is my favorite part of a wedding reception, this definitely takes it to a new level!

I think this trend is really catching on! I wrote about this idea, too, a couple of weeks ago.

I think it’s great couples are infusing more of their personalities into their wedding days!
