Recently one of our staffers hopped on a plane to travel three states away for a friend’s wedding—but her traveling didn’t stop there. She had to drive an hour outside of town to attend the ceremony in a rural location, and then another hour and a half in the other direction for the reception!
We found it odd to ask your wedding guests to drive all over the state in order to attend the different parts of your celebration, but if an engaged couple has a variety of locations that are important to them, maybe it would be warranted?
Is traveling long distances between the ceremony and the reception a hassle for guests, or just part of what makes a wedding unique? Rant or rave about it!

I think too much travel for a wedding is ridiculous! I live in Texas and my family and I flew to MONTANA for a wedding. We had to drive more than an hour up a mountain for the rehearsal, then an hour and a half back into town for the dinner. The next day, it was an hour up the mountain again! It was so crazy. The airport and hotels available were too far from the wedding and reception. On top of that, the wedding and reception weren’t super cool or meaningful places and no one seemed to think it was a big deal that we had all gone to so much trouble and expense. I learned a lot.

It’s really inconsiderate. My fiance and I have quite a few friends flying in from out of state for our wedding. We decided that to make it convenient for everyone, the ceremony is within walking distance of the reception. The rehearsal dinner is maybe a 10 minute drive away. It’s a lot to ask guests to shell out money for airfare and a hotel, as well as gas and a rental car. Who wants to spend all that time traveling, when it could be better spent celebrating?

Travelling continuously for a such a long distance is really not good.
