Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms- and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!
It’s now four months before the wedding and many things have changed and we’ve experienced many ups and downs since the last time I posted.
As for the ups and downs… I’ve changed what I want for my bridesmaids’ dresses and my grandpa passed away a month ago. My fiancé and I have tried our very best to keep him in mind throughout our wedding planning so far. The venues were chosen to be closer to him so that he didn’t have to travel too far and we wanted to make sure that he would enjoy every bit of the celebration.
Even though he won’t be there physically, I know he will be there with us that day. And, because he means so much to the both of us, I wanted to add a little element into the wedding to honor him. I looked online and found a few options…
Bouquet with locket:
Memorial table with photos, candles and flowers for the deceased or absent relative:
- Leaving an empty seat with decorated flowers to signify his presence (I’m worried this might be too spooky for some of the guests).
- Lighting memorial candles at the beginning of the ceremony after the processional and greeting.
- Something more discrete by carrying their photos with us.
There are so many different options, and we want to make sure that it’s simple and memorable not only for us, but for our families as well.
Along with my project above, I still have to find my wedding cake vendor, a DJ for the reception, shoes for the wedding, get my dress altered… LOTS and LOTS of stuff to do!!! Not as carefree as I was a month ago and definitely more stressed, but hopefully things will fall into place as they have in the past few months.
Tammy and Jacky met on an online dating website about three years ago. Tammy was Jacky’s 30th birthday present, and Jacky was her trial after her cousin recommended that she check the website out. After long emails and text messages, they met and have been inseparable ever since. He arranged a surprise getaway for her and took her to Disneyworld, where he proposed. They plan to marry on September 10th in Berkeley, California.
