DIY Wedding Invitation and Save the Date Embellishments

Wedding Paper Divas makes it super easy to completely customize your wedding invitations suite with unique colors, custom text and extra add-ons like layered cards and pocket fold enclosures. If you’re looking for a bit of extra sparkle on top of your personalized wedding stationery, however, these easy DIY tips are perfect for you.

Here’s how to get started adding rhinestones, pearls and other easy DIY embellishments to your save the date cards and wedding invitations.

Supplies

  • Your favorite Wedding Paper Divas designs (we used our Stylish Sweetheart save the date card, our Engagement Rings save the date card and our Traditional Frame wedding invitations)
  • Adhesive gems, rhinestones, pearls—anything you’d like to add to your stationery to give it a little extra sparkle! You can find these at any craft store.

DIY Idea One: Rhinestone Embellishments

I absolutely love this one—how perfect does the rhinestone look as the diamond in the engagement ring on these save the date cards? We bought adhesive rhinestones at the craft store, so we literally just stuck them on in the appropriate place and our cards were ready to ship.

DIY Idea Two: Pearl Embellishments

The key to all of these embellishment projects is to enhance—not overwhelm—the existing design elements. We love the way these tiny pearls accent this elegant wedding invitation design.

DIY Idea Three: Metallic Dimensional Embellishments

If you’re looking for a more modern embellishment, skip the sparkle and use these metallic baubles instead. The sleek style of these little beads is almost industrial, so a well placed little gem can instantly boost the chic factor of your save the dates.

Which look is your favorite? Do you have any other DIY embellishment ideas to share? Leave a comment and let us know!

Your invitations are lovely. I like your idea of putting the rhinestone on the ring to make it look like the engagement ring. After looking around your site, I have a lot more ideas now of what I may want. Thanks.
