DIY Shoe Clips for Bridesmaids (or Just for Fun!)

10:00:07 by Katie | 4 Comments

Since all of us are serving as bridesmaids this year (see our new feature, Confessions of a Bridesmaid, for details!), we’ve been thinking a lot about how we can convince the bride to let us use the accessories we already own instead of buying new items we’ll likely never use again.

One of the brides-to-be asked us to buy a specific pair black pumps, for instance, and when we asked why we couldn’t wear a pair we already owned, she said she liked the little bow on the pair she picked out.

Naturally, this piqued our preference for DIY, and we came up with this fun shoe clip idea.

Here’s how you can make some of your own:

Supplies

  • Clip-on earring backings from the jewelry section of the craft store
  • Hot glue gun
  • Flowers, bows, ribbons… whatever details the bride loves!

Step One: Glue the Backing to the Decoration

These flowers were big enough that it was easy to glue the clip directly to the fabric, but if your decorative touches are small you might want to add a little felt or cardstock backing first.

Step Two: Add to Your Favorite Shoes

It’s so incredibly simple! It doesn’t ruin the shoe, it looks great with heels or flats and you can even re-use the flowers later if you’d like. Love it!

If  you try this craft idea yourself, or if you have any DIY ideas to share, send your photos to blog@weddingpaperdivas.com and we’ll post them for all of our fans and followers.

This post reminds me of a movie called “P.S I love you” and the shoes the main character designed there.
