Cake toppers serve a little opportunity for a couple to let their personalities shine in a big way. We’ve seen everything from sock monkeys and Star Wars to charming birds, timeless porcelain and all that falls in between. The options are endless when it comes to cake toppers, and showing off your sense of humor is no exception.

What do you think about comical cake toppers? Are they hilarious and fun or a bit tacky? Do you plan to do something unexpected with your cake topper or stick to something more traditional? Rant or rave about it!

For our wedding cake, and wedding style, comical wedding toppers are a no-go. I am more of a monogram or fresh flowers kind of gal. I do swoon over all the sweet delicate topper choices you can kind find at Etsy though.

Definitely not my style, but if it reflects the bride & groom’s taste then who’s to judge.

I think cake toppers in general, comical or not, even the traditional ones are unnecessary. I very rarely think they bring anything to a cake. More often than not they take aware from a perfectly beautiful cake. Flowers can add a lovely touch, but more than that is almost always tacky in my book. But to each their own!

I think every cake topper should represent the couple! Either a nod to the past, or something contemporary. My husband and I picked a comical cake topper for our cake– actually, the one pictured in this post– because it represents us! Presentable couple, and I like to grab his butt. So, done! Decision made. Do what feels right for you! :)

We’ve been married for 28 years, and “way back then” it was hard to find cake toppers that were anything but the traditional “bride and groom standing stiff as a post” kind. Quite by accident, I found one that reflected us perfectly: a groom turning to run and the bride grabbing his tux to hold him back. It was whimsical and cute, and we’ve kept it on display all these years. We even put it on our 25th anniversary cake and the guests loved it.
