I will be the first to admit that when I was planning my wedding, I had strict instructions to my florist to avoid carnations at all costs. To me, these cheap, filler flowers had no place at my beautiful, modern event.
However, this changed, when I saw a stunning carnation centerpiece display at a friend’s wedding that made me appreciate the simple beauty and elegance of a carnation.
Here are just a few examples of classy carnations centerpieces that leave us speechless:

Beautiful and elegant centerpieces for weddings! Love it…
Yup, couldn’t agree more! They have such huge impact when you mass them together! But they still look awful with baby’s breath.
We agree! There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to do carnations.
This may sound snotty but carnations are one of the last flowers I’d consider for a wedding. But, done right they can be nice…especially the baby carns. There are so many other flowers that I think are more elegant, it would take some arm twisting to get me to consider them. Of similar size, I like lisianthus and roses. As a consolation, they do last a long time however so perhaps they’d be idea for an excessively hot day which would wilt just about anything else.
The carnations in the tea cup above are my favorite. A friend of mine used a similar centerpiece and it turned out great! I’ve also seen some massed together tightly to form pomanders – they look great for the ceremony aisles and can be brightly colored.
