A good friend of mine recently found out that an upcoming wedding she’s in has been moved from June to January! She’s in a whirlwind rush to help the bride finalize all of the details, but she is also facing an even bigger dilemma—although she’s the maid of honor, she lives in Connecticut and the bride lives in California.

Should she plan a last minute bachelorette party and bridal shower from Connecticut? Who else might step in to take over these roles? Is it possible to pull off a perfect last minute shower?

Last week we had a freak mid-summer rainstorm that left all of us Californians complaining about the humidity and lamenting that we seem to be on the fast track to fall this year. I, on the other hand, love it when it rains so I was delighted by the whole thing. As a result, this charming post from Amorology couldn’t have come at a better time!

I love how whimsical and fresh the whole theme feels. If you look closely, you can even see little crystal raindrops hanging from fishing line. These invites would be the perfect finishing touch for a fun After the Rain-themed bridal shower, anniversary party or friendly garden get-together.

I dread party games with a passionate dislike akin to my feelings for karaoke or line dancing. That being said, I have been to a few showers where the games actually made the entire event more fun. Whether you use games to break the ice, entertain your guests or embarrass the bride, here are a few references to help you get started planning party games that will make your party happier—not horrifying!

Project Wedding has some cute bridal shower game ideas, including “In Her Words,” which involves writing down what the bride says as she opens each gift (think, “How did you know I wanted this?!”) and then reading back her responses as what she’ll say on her wedding night.
June Wedding offers some of her own ideas about what makes a bridal shower game fun instead of fearsome, including tormenting the bride with a “get read for your honeymoon in the dark game” instead of tormenting guests with another round of charades.
Celebrations features a fun list of ice breakers, including one where all guests write a brief synopsis of their first kiss on a card, toss them all together and then try to guess which kiss belongs to which attendee. Unfortunately, in this game, mine would be the only scenario involving Denny’s and a plate of mozzarella cheese sticks.
Weddings Galore takes the bridal shower game a step further, with entire themes crafted around the idea of fitness, gardening or things a bride simply can’t live without.
Love to Know has some funny ideas for couples’ showers, including “Love Duets” karaoke. I know I said I hate doing karaoke, but watching the bride and groom sing ridiculous songs to each other sounds too good to pass up.

I have a shopping problem. I fully admit it, don’t try to hide it, and actually relish in it. Strangely, I’ve completely abandoned brick-and-mortar stores in favor of online shopping. 80s Themed Bridal Shower

Planning the perfect bridal shower can often be a challenge for a hostess who may be overcome by the thought that the event will inevitably be boring. Well, two of our colleagues have proved that that’s not always the case. We recently spotted this fun 80s themed bridal shower on their blog Jolie Jolie and just had to share it with our readers.

As you will see the event represents the eighties in every way from the color scheme to the food and favors to even the guests’ outfits! It looks like every guest had a lot of fun at this event, which included an impromtu eighties exercise class followed by a night on the town in their costumes.

Now, that’s one way to throw a fun bridal shower!
