Ask Etta: Assembling My Invitation Set

10:19:31 by Jessy | No Comments

While we dish about the hottest trends and latest designs (aka the fun parts of wedding planning!) we also know how stressful prepping for the big day can be. So, we would like to formally introduce you to Etta, our new etiquette expert. She’s ready and happy to delve into your every etiquette dilemma.

Between your wedding invitations, response cards, reception cards and enclosure cards, it can be tricky figuring out where to place everything inside your envelope. Don’t fret darling brides-to-be… that’s what we’re here for. Take this Facebook fan’s inquiry for instance…

Ashley asks…

I ordered the Romantic Tab invitation cards with no inner envelope. I love them! They are a casual invite, and I’m wondering if nixing the inner envelope was the right thing to do. Is that customary nowadays? If so, in what order should I insert everything into the one (outer) envelope I do have?

Etta says…

A little more than half of our savvy shoppers choose to include inner envelopes with their invites. We recommend doing so to ensure that friends, family and awkward Aunt Sally receive clean invitations free of postage marks and other blemishes by mail. Here’s a helpful cheat sheet for assembling your stationery set:

DIY Welcome Kit

6:13:09 by Jessy | 7 Comments

Traveling out of town for a wedding weekend—while completely worth the cost—can definitely add up for guests. Give your friends and family members a sweet surprise when they check into their hotel with a thoughtful welcome kit! We put this one together with a focus on the locale, none other than our beloved San Francisco.

What’s Inside

  • Local favorites to munch on, including sourdough bread, fortune cookies and Ghirardelli chocolates. Yum!
  • A cute map to help them find their way around the area.
  • Local magazine featuring fun things to do and sites to see while they’re in town.
  • A card welcoming guests and listing out the details of the kit—this is especially cute if you write it on stationery that plays up your theme or location.
  • Wrap up all your goodies in a cute box, bag, basket or tote your guests can take home.

Isn’t it cute?

If  you try this idea yourself, or if you have any DIY ideas to share, send your photos to blog@weddingpaperdivas.com and we’ll post them for all of our fans and followers.

2012 Trends: Punchy Colors

9:05:38 by Anum | 1 Comment

Color is really catching our eye for 2012. The bolder and brighter, the better! Our new collection by the talented illustrator, Stina Persson, is a perfect representation of this pop hues trend, so we used one of our favorite designs as the starting point for today’s inspiration board. These gorgeous shades of aqua and chartreuse seem tropical, but with a fresh and modern flair.

Rant or Rave: Co-Workers Invited to the Wedding

6:42:39 by Jessica | 1 Comment

Budget constraints. Working relationships. Venue capacities. Whatever the reason, everyone has a different view on whether co-workers should or will be invited to their wedding. Some feel a certain obligation, others have co-workers that they count as some of their best friends, while still others would never dream of inviting their office mates.

Here is a what a few of our Facebook fans had to say:

“Yes, but only a very select few. That is a tough one though! It’s kind of like none or all. I work in a fairly big office so I only kept it to those that I associate with outside of work or are very close to at work.” -Tiffany

“Nope. Small office and bosses not wanted!!” -Kimberly

“I work with 10 girls we are like family they all were there! :) ” -Kelly

“Yes, but only ones that I consider friends outside work. And my boss because I felt sort of obligated to. LOL” -Brigette

“nope…I can’t stand them..my home life and work life are separate.” -Tammy

Bride’s Diary: Details, Details and More Details

7:34:59 by Jessica | No Comments

I sort of feel like I am up to my ears in details. All those little last details that you can’t really start on until a few months before the wedding. Decorations, timelines, flowers, songs, jewelry, makeup, vows (ok, will this list ever end?). I still have 4 months but I am starting to feel the crunch. Nonetheless, I have lists galore, checklists and timelines to keep me on track. Only problem? Finding the time. Anyway, I am sure it will all come together slowly but surely.

In happier news, we got our honeymoon registry up and running. The most exciting part? We just got a mystery gift that was beyond generous. I am completely intrigued as to who sent it. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

While on the topic of our honeymoon, did you hear about the Italian cruiseship that crashed? Well, that is the exact ship we are supposed to go on. It is such a horrible and tragic incident—we feel horrible for all the people involved. But as far as what are we going to do? Your guess is as good as ours. After the crash of the economy in Greece (which changed our first honeymoon itinerary), I figure this too will work itself out.

I’m ready to see what ups and downs come our way in the next couple months. Definitely looking forward to my bridal shower next month and the bachelorette party after that. I’ll be back to share all the details with you…

Meet Jessica

Jessica and Dan met nearly 7 years ago on Myspace. (Remember Myspace?) It took weeks of contemplation until they decided to finally meet… and I guess you could say the rest was history. After discovering their mutual shoe addiction, surviving countless Thanksgiving family meals together and three apartment/house moves later—they are officially ready to tie the knot.

Jessica and Dan are getting married May 27, 2012 at Malibou Lake Mountain Club in Los Angeles.

Tangerine is the word of the week and this bold bouquet shows that Pantone made a wise decision with 2012′s color of the year. We’re loving the bright citrus pops, fun textures and creative use of real fruit. Isn’t it yummy?

Ask Etta: A Plus One Dilemna

5:06:48 by Jessica | No Comments

While we dish about the hottest trends and latest designs (aka the fun parts of wedding planning!) we also know how stressful prepping for the big day can be. So, we would like to formally introduce you to Etta, our new etiquette expert. She’s ready and happy to delve into your every etiquette dilemma.

Melissa Asks…

My friend and her boyfriend broke up recently and he was her plus one (sent our save the dates). Will she still expect to have that plus one or can I get away with only inviting her on the wedding invite?

Etta Says…

Well, this certainly is a tough one. It all really depends on how the save the date was addressed. If it was addressed to the friend by name and guest, then your friend may still expect to receive an invitation that allows for her to bring a guest, in all fairness. If the save-the-date was addressed to her boyfriend also by his name, then she will probably understand when the invitation is sent only addressed to her. The best suggestion I have would be to call the friend directly and explain the situation, and ask if she intends on bringing a guest. This will avoid any confusion when it comes time to addressing invitations.  Most likely the friend will completely understand limitations in space, budget, etc.
