Bride’s Diary: The Engagement Shoot

12:31:57 by Jessy | 2 Comments

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms- and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

I have to first start off by saying, I don’t like to be photographed and I don’t like the spotlight. These two things I thought would make it difficult when it came time to take our engagement pictures, but to my surprise, it was a fun and special moment between my fiancé and me. We took the photos with the talented (and one of my very best friends) Eileen Roche who also helped make us comfortable during the shoot.

Here are some tips to consider when planning your engagement pictures:

  • Pick at least one place that has memories for the both of you (a park, city, train, etc.)
  • Make sure you coordinate your outfits so they blend nicely in the photos. I am not talking matching shirts, but keeping your dress in the same color palette as his shirt or contrasting colors that work (i.e. navy and gray)
  • Try your best to focus on him—it will help ease nerves and make for great candid shots
  • Laugh and kiss as much as you can… those are the cutest photos!

These are some of my favorite shots from our shoot. Our location was at Vasona Park in Los Gatos, California (which Adam and I frequent often on our bike rides) and the cute downtown of Willow Glen, California.

We used a large balloon as a prop for a couple of pictures and even though it didn’t cooperate most of the time, it was still fun! Will you be using any props for your engagement pictures?

Stealing a kiss while watching Sunday Night Football—we are huge football fans!

Meet Ashley

Ashley and Adam met a little over three years ago when they were both out with friends at a bar. They spent the night talking about sports and dealing with other friends’ drama. A few days later they went on their first date and have been inseparable since. Three years later, Adam popped the question to a very surprised Ashley!

Ashley and Adam are getting married April 28, 2012 at Ralston Hall in Belmont, CA.

Rant or Rave: Trashing the Dress

3:52:12 by Contributors | 4 Comments

“Trash the dress” photo sessions are a growing trend in wedding photography. The day after the wedding, the bride and groom do a photo shoot in their wedding attire. Whether it’s in the desert, the ocean or an abandoned lot… the common theme is a place they can get creative (even if that means dirty).

Your wedding dress is very often the most expensive piece of clothing you will ever buy. Could you get over that thought for some pretty amazing photos? Or would you rather pass your dress on, preserve it for safekeeping or sell it? Rant or rave!

Today’s Real Wedding features the wedding of Michelle and Edward, which took place at the Reception Center at St. Clement in Matawan, New Jersey. The wedding included many sentimental elements including a cake topper that was an engagement gift from Ed’s grandmother. The guests danced the night away and enjoyed a photo booth with playful props. Here are some of the photos, courtesy of George Koroneos.

Bride’s Diary: We Did It!

Wedding Paper Divas is bursting with staff grooms- and brides-to-be who are currently planning their weddings. We’re happy to share their stories with you as a part of this fun feature!

All the fuss and craziness is now over and I can be myself again. I remember telling a lot of people how I no longer felt like myself the last month before the wedding. I remember very clearly how stressed I was the night before. It was raining a bit and very windy, and it was still windy when I left the hotel the next morning on my way to the Brazilian Room at Tilden Park. But when I got there, it was very peaceful and very sunny! Things do flow very nicely after all. Right before the wedding ceremony, fog started rolling in making the mood very romantic. My friends joked around and told me that it felt like a scene in Twilight!

The wedding was beautiful and I can’t thank everyone enough for all the help and support they have given me and Jacky. Now it’s time to get used to calling him my husband! Photos compliments of Shannon Paras Photography.

Gorgeous, right? Check out the entire photo gallery of Tammy and Jacky’s wedding!

Meet Tammy
Tammy and Jacky met on an online dating website about three years ago. Tammy was Jacky’s 30th birthday present, and Jacky was her trial after her cousin recommended that she check the website out. After long emails and text messages, they met and have been inseparable ever since. He arranged a surprise getaway for her and took her to Disney World, where he proposed. They married on September 10th in Berkeley, California.

Rant or Rave: Non-Traditional Registries

6:13:14 by Contributors | 5 Comments

If a couple lives together before their wedding, or decides they have most of the things you would typically register for, they may opt for something non-traditional with their registry. And we’ve heard it all, from honeymoon and ticket registries, to one designed to help you renovate your home (new electrical wiring in the bathroom, anyone?). What does your registry look like? Have you ever bought from or contributed to a non-traditional registry for a friend?

What do you think about registries that stray from the norm? Rant or rave!
