DIY Mason Jar Wedding Favors

10:31:34 by Katie | 6 Comments

If you saw our post on DIY mason jar centerpieces, you’ll know that we absolutely love using mason jars or ball jars for DIY projects because in addition to being stylish and affordable, they provide the perfect blank canvas for personalization. Whatever you decide to fill them with, you can easily personalize your jars with simple touches like gift tag stickers and ribbons.

How would you personalize yours? Use these charming DIY favor crafts as your inspiration!

Supplies

  • Mason jars
  • Homemade jam
  • Dry ingredients for the cookies, brownies or other baked treats of your choice
  • Ribbon
  • Matching gift tag stickers (we used our Petite Leaf adhesive gift tags in both Hunter Green and Pumpkin)

Jam-Filled Mason Jar Favors

Step One: Prepare Jam & Fill Jars

If you don’t have a cherished family recipe, now is your chance to create one. Search around for a classic recipe you like, or mix things up with fun new flavors. We love this raspberry nectarine jam recipe we found on Simple Bites, for instance.

Once you prepare the jam and let it cool, fill as many jars as you need and attach gift tag stickers to each one.

Step Two: Add Ribbon

We used a hot glue gun to secure the thick ribbon around the outside of the jars’ lids to finish the project. It couldn’t be more simple than that!

DIY Cookie Jar Favors

Step One: Layer in Ingredients

We used a recipe for walnut chocolate chip cookies and combined all of the white ingredients together, then layered in the ingredients one at a time. As you add in the layers, make sure to get the sharpest contrast possible out of your ingredients. We separated the brown sugar and similarly colored walnuts with chocolate chips, for instance, to get a prettier arrangement.

Step Two: Add Ribbon

Pick a ribbon that matches your color scheme and tie it tightly around the outside of the jar lid. You can add a dot of hot glue to secure the ribbon in place if you’re afraid your bow will slip.

Step Three: Attach Gift Tag Sticker

As a final finishing touch, place a gift tag sticker on the front of the jar. You can personalize the stickers with your name, or with a special note like “Sweet Dreams!” or “A Sweet Gift for Later.”

Step Four: Enjoy!

That’s really all it takes to create these fun and easy DIY party favors.

Late Night Wedding Snacks

7:48:11 by Katie | 3 Comments

Late night wedding snacks are all the rage these days, and we couldn’t be happier. The staff here at Wedding Paper Divas shares a profound love of classic late night snacks, from sliders to mini-tacos and everything in between.

We’re equally obsessed with food trucks (we’ve had both a cupcake caravan and a karaoke ice cream truck make appearances at the office recently), so it makes sense that we absolutely love this fun food trend.

If you’re considering giving your guests late night snacks for their post-wedding munchies, take a little advice from our in-house foodies and order some of these classic midnight snacks.

Sliders and Fries

Sliders make for perfect late night wedding snacks—especially when paired with little cones of fries to boot. We’ve heard of grooms bringing out trays of McDonald’s cheeseburgers (while wearing white gloves, no less), but as California girls we love the idea of hiring an In-n-Out truck instead.

Donuts and Coffee

Maybe it’s because donut shops are often open all night (or maybe just because donuts and coffee are delicious at any hour), we love the idea of donuts as a late night wedding snack. Plus you can package them together in really cute ways, like these ideas below.

Tacos and Pizza

Mini-tacos, mini-nachos, mini-pizzas—pretty much any version of late night food you used to munch on in college makes the ideal midnight wedding snack. Think of it as an opportunity to relive the good ol’ days.

Milk and Cookies

What could be more classic (or more fitting for bedtime!) than classic chocolate chip cookies with a tall shot glass of milk?

Which option is your favorite? What did we leave out? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Bridal Shower Games

Signature White Bridal Shower Invitations Funky Damask

Fancy tea cakes, pretty lingerie gifts and…toilet paper? There are those classic bridal shower games, and some cheesy ones as well, that you are bound to see at every shower. As you plan your event, consider games that you know the bride to be, and guests, would actually enjoy playing! We’ve compiled a list here of a few games that could be very entertaining.

Ring Game: Each guest is given a plastic engagement ring as they arrive to the party. The purpose of the game is to not get caught either saying a word, or doing a certain action. Banned words can include anything wedding related, and actions could be crossing your legs. If one guest catches another guest saying or doing these things, they take that person’s ring. The guest who collects the most rings by the end of the party, wins.

How Well Do You Know the Bride: Come up with list of trivia questions and fun facts about the bride. Give the guests paper and pens to answer the questions and have the bride answer the questions after. The guest who answers the most correctly wins.

How Well Does the Bride Know the Groom: Come up with a list of trivia questions about the groom, including his pet peeves and things from his childhood and have him answer them before the shower. The bride must answer each question, and for each question that she answers incorrectly, one of the guests is allowed to ask her a “truth” or “dare.”

Find Your Mate: Make a list of well-known romantic couples from history, or famous celebrity couples, and write down the names on name tags. Put a name tag on each guests’ back so they can not see it. All the guests ask each other questions about their identity, and once they figure out who they are, they must find their other half.

Toilet Paper Wedding Gown: Have guests get into teams of three or four. The task it to create a stylish wedding dress using only 3 rolls of toilet paper in 20 minutes. The teams must then model their dresses and explain the design concept and the bride chooses her favorite.

Analogies: One guest starts thinking of one of the other guests and keeps her choice a secret. The other guests must guess who the mystery person is by asking questions about the individual in the form of analogies. Examples of questions would be, “If she were a cocktail, what type would she be?” or “If she were a dessert, what type would she be?” and so on until someone is able to guess the person correctly.

Two Truths and a Lie: Each guest tells three things about herself; two of them are truths and the third is a lie. The other guests must guess which statement is false.

Notes of Advice: Have a box and blank note cards on a table for guests to write notes of advice, wisdom, and wishes for the bride to be. Put all the notes in the box and give to the bride to open and read right before her wedding day.

A hot topic we hear brides-to-be chatting about lately is matching shoes with their bridesmaids. Choosing the same shoes for your bridesmaids is a fun opportunity for the lady of honor to add something striking to her attire, while giving her favorite girls a little shout-out. As fun and charming as it may be, this bold trend isn’t for everyone. What do you think about matching shoes for the bride and her maids?

Are your bridesmaids’ shoes similar to your own, exactly the same or totally different? Do you love this look or is it not for you? Rant or rave!
