Wedding Transportation

Friday, June 20th, 2008

One of the most personal weddings I’ve ever been to was one of my friends who really made it her own. She took her mother’s wedding dress and had it altered and designed to suit her. And even though her wedding was 6 years ago, I still remember seeing her and her husband drive away in a cool, vintage car.

For our wedding, we decided not to do anything special about our transportation. Since we had no wedding party and our ceremony and reception was at the same site, I just road to the ceremony with my friends and my mom. My husband drove to the site himself. While it seemed practical and economical for us to do so, I still think having a sweet vehicle like theirs adds a little romance and excitement to the day.

If you want to echo this classic, vintage style, choose invitations consistent with this theme. The results will be a seamless look that begins with invitations and ends with your wedding day.

Wedding Thank You CD

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

We’re still waiting for our photos and since I wanted to send everyone a thank you with a picture of us at the wedding, our thank you notes are also overdue. This is definitely a lesson learned. Remember to be careful when reading your vendor contracts. I had no idea that it would take 2 months to receive our pictures! Anyway, I decided to use the time to figure out what we should do about our thank yous.

Because so many guests complimented us about our wedding music, I thought of making CD’s for them. Packaging for CD’s can be found online and several companies such as Beau-coup allow you to customize your own wedding labels.

In addition, there are a lot of gorgeous thank you cards that you can send with the CD’s. And if you’re going to use your website as a thank you website like I mentioned in my last entry, having a thank you card you can personalize is a great way to tell guests to revisit the website to view pictures from the wedding. Here is a sweet and modern thank you card that would match well with our wedding colors.

If you choose this card, it will perfectly match your wedding website, invitations and the rest of your stationery.

Wedding Website

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

When I began thinking about the whole wedding planning process, I knew that I wanted to have a wedding website. Especially since the majority of our guests were making a big trip to get here, I thought it would be nice to provide them with detailed information about our special day. There was a ton of websites out there to choose from but my fiance and I were looking for something specific. We wanted a site that allowed us to play music and show pictures and of course one that wasn’t extremely expensive. We finally settled on a site called MyMemoryPage.com.

Because we paid for the service up to a year, I had the idea of transforming our wedding website into a thank you website for guests. That way those who didn’t attend could get a sneak peek of our wedding through photos and the music that was played.

Months later, I heard about another website called Mywedding.com. I wish I heard about it before because while I love our website, this one allows you to coordinate Wedding Paper Divas invitations with their fabulous website layouts and it’s free! Here’s an example of what I mean.

Tropical Theme

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Although I didn’t use any tropical themes in my wedding, I still think it’s an easy and beautiful way to transform your special day into a dreamy island wedding. I envision the bride holding a big beautiful hibiscus as a bouquet and various shades of tropical flowers lining the aisle. I’ve also seen brides wear these gorgeous blossoms in their hair with a lei of flowers around their neck. The result is sweet perfection.

These island inspired cards complete the look adding floral flair for a tropical wedding.

Wedding Confessions: Mistakes and Mishaps

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

If you are a regular Diva Dialogue reader then you can probably tell that I enjoy posting about my wedding. It is true that after four years, I still love to think about it because it was the most fun I ever had planning an event. I also think my photographer did an amazing job, and I love all of my photos. In fact, they did such an amazing job that I tend to forget about all the mishaps of the day. So, the other day when a fellow Wedding Paper Diva told me that my wedding seemed “perfect” and it got me thinking of all the things that actually went wrong. When I really thought of it, I was surprised at how long the list actually was. So, in honor of all your frazzled brides expecting a “perfect” wedding day, I decided to share only SOME of the mistakes that took place on my wedding day. Now that time has passed I could care less about most of them and think that my wedding was perfect anyway.

Suite Dreams…

Monday, June 16th, 2008

By guest blogger: Geeta Sachdeva

There’s something about receiving a wedding card in the mail that makes me open it right away.
And I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the one I got just yesterday. Ranging from sky to cobalt, not only did each piece have a different shade of blue, they also had different motifs. The invitation was adorned with a hibiscus flower, the response card had a star-fish on it, there was a sea shell on the reception card and a pair of baby-sized flip-flops attached to the directions card. In spite of varied colors and designs, the sea -n-sand element provided a unifying theme for their destination wedding. The result was a beautiful wedding suite that reflected their personality as a couple.

If you too would like to step away from tradition and customize your invitation then try to incorporate as much of your individual style as you can. Create one that does more than just inform guests about your special day. Express your story with something fun, unique and personal.

Did you know that all Wedding Paper Divas invitations come in the same matte finish and use the same (110 pound) cardstock? And since all enclosures are offered a la carte, you may choose components from different suites and still achieve an overall consistency.

So why not dream up a suite that’s all your own and leave your guests absolutely amazed?

Father/Daughter Dance

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Today is Father’s Day and this got me thinking about father/daughter dances. At my wedding, my dad and I danced to “You Don’t Have to Let Go” by Jessica Simpson. The lyrics seems really fitting for the occasion, “I don’t need your strength anymore, cause you’ve made me strong” …” You don’t say it, But it’s in your eyes, ll the fears of good-bye, But I can promise, you’ll always have a place, and a way to my heart.” For my dad, who cried for days before my wedding day, I felt that a slow and sweet song would mean a lot to him. And, of course, my dad cried the whole time and he made all of the guests cry too. I thought we had the best father/daughter moment possible.

BUT, then I went to a wedding where the bride did a choreographed dance with her dad to “Brown Eyed Girl.” The dance was sweet and fun, and the crowd LOVED it. The bride seemed to have so much fun with her father - it absolutely was a memorable event.

So, I ask — what are you brides planning:slow and sweet or fast and fun? Either way, I hope its the perfect choice for you and your dad.

Burst of Orange

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I know I’ve written about orange before but it is the color of the season. And this wedding season, it’s making an appearance in everything from the flowers to the bridesmaids dresses. Orange is even making a splash in the fashion industry coloring up one of my favorite stores, Anthropologie this season. Take a look at some of their line which would be absolutely divine for an orange wedding!

Table Inspiration

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I just love Rick’s idea of an alternative centerpiece, which made my think of some beautiful table settings that I recently saw at an event planning conference. In fact, two companies in particular caught my eye with their stunning table displays: Wild Flower Linens and Resource One. Both companies offer party rental services and I thought I would share photos should they provide inspiration.

Enjoy!
