It’s cool to see how couples are really taking risks out there on the dance floor. One wedding I went to featured the couple dancing first to a choreographed slow song and then sped up with something fast and funny. What I’ve been noticing on the Internet is surprising first dances in which couples seemingly dance to a slow, romantic melody and then the music is cut and the laughs begin! Today’s bride and groom want to really entertain guests instead of making them watch several minutes of boring and awkward shuffling back and forth. As a result, it looks like they’re taking lessons and practicing before hand and the results are hilarious. See for yourself!
If you’re like me and are getting married away from the majority of your family and friends, this post may be of interest to you. Whether you’ve decided to do a destination wedding or just know of people who want to attend your wedding but can’t be physically present, a wedcast may be the next best thing. Wedcasts are live, video broadcast over the Internet which allows friends and family to watch your wedding as it is happening. How exciting is that?
I started thinking about this when several of my friends called to regretfully tell us that they could not attend our wedding but wish they could see it live. I did a web search and learned that there are hotels in Hawaii and at other destinations and companies who do this.
How does it work? Companies take a videographer’s footage and stream it live on the Internet. Most couples use this to let friends and family view their wedding in real time whereas there are some that also get married or hold commitment ceremonies virtually.
Who does it? There are both hotels and companies specifically focused on wedcast that do this. From one in Vegas to a company called Live Internet Weddings in Hawaii, there are hotels and resorts, and new businesses sprouting up to cater to the not present guest. I found one that solely deals with wedcasts. http://www.wedcast.tv/
Other options? Getting a live stream of your wedding may be a little pricey for some. Another option would be to get married via a webcam.
Used for practical purposes in Medieval times, chandeliers have taken on a whole new meaning as a popular decorative piece. Most recently, as Diva blogger Lea has previously mentioned, chandeliers have also invaded the wedding scene and has become in its own right a sole wedding theme. Not only decorating and adding glamour and beauty to historical mansions like my wedding site seen in the picture below, but chandeliers are now being moved outdoors for a look that is simply to die for.
Chandeliers bring a feeling of grandiosity and luxury to any room and because of this they are also finding its way onto wedding stationery. If you love the look of chandeliers and want to add this to your wedding, take a look at Wedding Paper Divas’s glamorous Chandelier Rehearsal Dinner Invitations in Almond. They can be easily made into Wedding Invitations.
In a previous post, I matched pink with black for a look that is modern and contemporary. Pink which as always been popular in weddings can also be mixed with other colors to significantly alter the mood and style of your wedding. Adding orange with pink, for example creates a bold, lively look while matched with brown tones down pink’s sweetness and brings a tinge of formality. Being less formal than black, chocolate adds a lot of fun with paired with a pink hue. Here’s another idea board for those of you who love this color combo. The picture on the left is my wedding site dressed in pink lighting.
In the eighties, a white wedding referred to a popular Billy Idol song. Today it signifies a popular color choice for couples look for a chic, modern theme. Why save white only for your dress? White goes with everything and when used consistently adds light and fresh style to your wedding.
Adding a hint of gold or silver transforms a refreshingly white wedding into an elegant affair. Here’s a few invitation design options for couples wanting a white theme.
When I got married, I made the decision to splurge on the “must-haves” and save on all the other stuff. As a result, I spent hours…no, days…hmmm, maybe months?…. of my life scouring eBay for the perfect steal. As a result of my hard work, I scored tons of goodies on the cheap - including all the vases for the candy buffet, votive candles, my flower girl’s dress, my ring bearer’s pillow, bridesmaid gifts, a guest book and more! I was so successful, that etiquette guru and author Leah Ingram wrote about me in her book: Buying & Selling Your Way to a Fabulous Wedding on Ebay.
So, as you can see, I love eBay for finding wedding deals. However, one of the top divas over here at Wedding Paper Divas, recently turned my attention to the shopping site Etsy and I was disappointed that this wasn’t around in my day. Etsy is like eBay, but all the products sold on this site are handmade. This is a great place to look for gifts, jewelery, and decorating accessories. Check out some cute finds that would would go great with one of my favorite stationery designs, Vintage Damask.
Gone are the cotton candy pink chiffon weddings of yesteryears. Pink is all grown up. Dress pink with black and you get a look that is modern and classy. Take a peek at the pink and black combo I fell in love with at a wedding event recently.
If you’re at the start of your wedding planning, you may not know what your theme will be. I remember when I first got engaged people were constantly asking me what my was theme and what my colors were. I honestly had no idea what they were talking about. Now that I am entrenched in the wedding planning process, I’ve developed a thorough understanding of both. In addition, it has given me a greater appreciation for weddings that I have been a guest at previously.
Using colors throughout your wedding creates a consistent and seamless look. I’ve seen it used successfully at several weddings and have noticed how much more put together the event seems when tied in with color. As for themes, I went to a wedding a few years ago where the couple used peonies in everything from their stationery to the centerpieces to the cake. Here’s a few pictures from the event.
These designs would go perfect with a floral theme like this one.
We’re definitely in the wedding season! With spring and summer at the peak of the wedding season, you might be either planning your own wedding, attending a few or doing both. As for me, it hasn’t stopped raining weddings since fall and I continue to embrace and enjoy every wedding that I get to experience.
Going to weddings are a great way to get ideas for your own. This past weekend it opened my eyes to the beauty of a simple celebration. Held outside near a beautiful river, the couple invited a mere 30 guests. It was an intimate ceremony made special with the beauty of nature and the sounds of a single violinist. Guests signed in on a scroll designed with the couple’s picture and we all got a taste of a light, airy and fruity cake which was perfect for such a sweet celebration. Here’s a few pictures from that day.
These are few invitations that would go great with a simple wedding.
I love the idea of adding something to tables that make guests want to travel around and mingle to other tables to see what’s going on. One wedding I went to in Boston did that. The couple had pictures of themselves at different places they had traveled to. I kind of took that idea one step further and thought about getting Vintage postcards to put on each table. These could be places that the couple has traveled to or the places that they want to go to. If the couple has been there, adding information on the back of the postcards about their travels would be really interesting and a conversation starter for guests. If they haven’t been there, the couple could write down information about the place and why they want to go there. Another option for those that don’t like writing is just to list the names of the people who will be sitting on the table. I think this will be a fun and creative way to add personality to your wedding tables.
